Phrases, saying and words that you hate.

Do you guys have any words or sayings that make you cringe or are just sick of?

My current ones are:

The medias new favorite word "optics..."

When related to food: "artisan"

Lastly, the current popular saying, that makes me want to take a baseball bat to someone: ""I call BS"

"Reach out to" as a substitute for "contact."

Using "ask" as a noun.

Using "metric" instead of "measurement".

Using "decisioning" instead of "deciding".

"Bench marking". Can my Boss define "bench marking" without using the words "Bench Marking" in the definition?

Calling everything from a DYI shelf installation to a tire repair a "build". Build is a verb, Dummy!

this came up yesterday in conversation. "Baby's got a new pair of shoes" for getting new tires for your car. and calling a car Baby.

I'm with Vinny on artisanal too. Frickin toast is artisanal these days thanks to GD hipsters.

Think outside the box --- must be the #1 overused phrase over the last 20 years.
I had a hard time typing the words.

Not sure if this qualifies for the thread but when I tell someone "Thank you" and they reply with "No Problem" or "Thank you".

A proper reply is "You're welcome!"

"It is what it is" ....I want to rip eyes out when I hear that.

"Tribal Knowledge" ...to describe what you know about your business after being in it for so long. If the gal wasn't so big, I'da thrown her out of the window!

I'm with you guys on the "no problem" thing. I just hate it. From my working days, "stake holders", "wrap around services." I also hate all the political correct stuff you continually have to listen to.

Oh. You must be one of "those" guys.

Another one: "What happened?" instead of say "What?"

"Spoon" - is a utensil for eating food. Using it as a secret code word for a weapon is sophomoric at best. Do you have a tree fort with a special secret password as well?

"Hot water heater" - do I have to explain?

"Unthaw" - so you want to freeze something?

"Montreal Canadiens" - only Bruins fans will fully understand the disdain for the other team to the point of not even wanting to hear their name.
