I cut the joining cable in half the minute I get them. I actually carry side-cutters when I'm getting a rental car, just for that reason. That is the dumbest thing ever. What the eff are they thinking?

Not much has changed-

I recall these pricey keys from the 1970's for the Bavaria:

I have carried the same keys for over 20 years, some of those keys for 25 years. Never replaced a battery yet. I can't figure out where the batteries go in.

This. It is amazing what they have in stock and can do!

I remember this key....I wanted an extra for my 76 bavaria, and was told by BMW that without a key code it would be $850 to make a new one...I thought that was a bmw tax, so I talked to a specialist locksmith who offered to do it for $900 if i provided the blank....
That ended up being my first push button start car lol

Excellent idea

Ostensibly, you pay less for your insurance. My 2004 turbo Miata is about half as expensive to insure as a 1998 Integra GSR was. Turbo two seat convertible is less than a sedan, with the hot B series motor and matching transmission the kids liked to have in their civics.
