Humbly summiting my man card

All good thing must come to an end...

Many moons ago I was a motorcycle riding, cigar smoking, beer guzzling, tequila shooting, whisky drinking son of a gun.

To the point, in the last two days I sold my Miata...

And bought a 2013 Mazda5...

If you don't know, the Mazda5...

Is

a

Minivan...

It is a very, very, nice minivan, built on the Mazda3 frame (or so I'm told) so it has a nice ride/feel and electronic gadgets up the (you know what) has kicka$$ stereo, can haul a load...

But at the end of the day I traded my sportscar for a minivan...

Maybe someday I will get back into a sporty car... but right now that seems like a light way far down at the end of the tunnel.

Mazda 6 is a sedan, no? The 5 and the 7 are the minivans/crossovers.

Heck, even if you're driving a minivan, slap a couple racing stickers on it and you're good to go.

You are correct... we got the 5 (stock pic, not our car):

Hate to even ask this, but, what color did you end up with?

Scott, we love you man, but you had an automatic Miata, your man card was revoked a long time ago.

If that is your Mazda in the beach picture, you get 3 style points.

No offense to your Miata, but there are still plenty out there, if you need to scratch that itch. You know I own one, but really, they are a dime a dozen. I'm surprised they took yours in for trade. If you make up some outlandish story about how you got them to take it, you could actually come out ahead in man card points...

If there actually were such things...

You were driving a Miata. Just what do you think your man card was worth?

Actually, I've been driving the heck out of a '90 Miata for three years. Sorry you had to give up the toy.
In all seriousness, I would suggest looking after the needs of your family was a far more "manly" action.

Best

Hello Scott,

I'm Agent 69 with the man card department. When I'm not busy trying to instigate steering a thread into meat-plow, tap-it, or other 6th-grade level replies, I handle man card appeals.

We've reviewed your case as follows:

Status : Man card reinstated and returned.
Reason: Doing what a man has gotta do to secure the logistical punani gravy-train.

Case Closed.

Minivans are awesome. If I could only have two vehicles and one of them was my 911 or whatever fun car, the other would probably be a minivan.

I have one too, a 2012 but I'm gonna put it up for sale. I like it but I bought it for the. Wife originally and she's decided she prefers her Prius as it gets better gas mileage. I'm looking for a 5 speed 4x4 xterra once I get it gone.

If you have to van it, you're supposed to be doing it in this:

I have a minivan. It's what actually justified my 911 purchase. One has to cancel the other out.

If you ride around with surfboards on it and random clothes and empty beer bottles strewn throughout then they can actually be kinda okay.
