Alternative to Merrill shoes

I've been wearing Merrill slip on shoes for years. Love the fit and comfort but
the last few sets seem to wear out very fast 4-6 months or so
Anybody else notice this? Could be me I am on my feet alot
Is there anything out there that's as comfortable and more durable?

I don't know if Jon Gray does a slip on, but I have a pair of low boots he made about 14 years ago.

Dan,

I am the same as you in that I have worn Merrills for years. The quality has definitely gone downhill over the last couple of years. I bought a pair of Men's Comfort Mocs about 2 months ago. They are just as comfortable. I don't know how long they will last. But, L.L. Bean has a great Guarantee

A few years ago I had a pair of regular Keen shoes. Comfortable and durable. They also make a slip on.
The shape is very typical Keen.

I've since gone to a pair of Asolo Paladin GV. Water resistant suede and gortex lined. Romania made and just about perfect for casual work wear.
They're a proper walking shoe but they are also a really good driver's shoe.

I wore Merrills for years (hiking shoes) and bought a pair of Oboz last year and have been very impressed. Extremely comfortable and look like new after about 1.5 years of almost daily use.

I've switched from Merrills, which I've worn for years, to a brand called Oboz, which I found at REI. The Oboz is a proper hiking shoe. I like it a whole lot. Here is a link to the company's site:

Big +1. Love these. I'm not sure what "slip-on" types they have but I have a pair of their dress shoes that are awesome - comfortable, well-made, not terribly expensive and good looking.

I swear by these. Durable, long lasting, feels like walking on a cloud. Throw in a pair of dark socks and some plaid shorts and I'm ready to hit the town!

J/K!! Duluth Trading makes durable stuff, haven't tried these but they get good reviews. Or you can just wear red clogs like Marcus (Livi)!

I had some Merrill mocs since last October that have now worn out. I started getting foot pain that was getting worse, switched to a pair of Ecco's and the pain is gone. I don't guess 10 months it a short life span for a shoe that is work daily. I am on my feet most of the time.

+2. The only brand I buy for any style except sneakers(New Balance). My Ecco Sandals have lasted 7 years and my dress shoes I just replaced after five years. They are the most comfortable shoes I've owned. I have the sandals, snow boots and dress shoes - all Ecco.

Ecco, Mephisto, Finn Comfort all make some comfy shoes, what are you going to do while you wear them?

I like Merills but they are quite heavy.

Now I'm only buying Riekers. Mixed quality, but I'm happy enough and won't change for a while. But I also like Ecco

If you're ever in Boston, I believe there's an Ecco store on Newbury St.
