Menopause! AHHHHHHH!!!!!

I know many of you are my age (50-60) and going through this with your wives. This menopause ride ain't for the weak. Can anybody tell me how long this is going to last? PLEASE tell me it gets better?

Some things I hate about menopause:

- Being forced to tell the restaurant manager it's TOO HOT!...and please turn up the A/C.

- Being forced to tell the restaurant manager it's TOO COLD!...and please turn down the A/C (5 minutes later)

- Having to sleep in snowboarding gear in August to keep from freezing with the A/C full blast and the covers kicked off the bed.

- Being told the noise of my turning the newspaper pages is DRIVING HER NUTS!

- Having her come into my mancave sobbing, asking if I still think she's sexy (5 minutes after screaming at me about the noise of the newspaper???)

- Having to pretend an argument she's starting is real, and NOT saying…"Baby, this isn't a real issue. It's menopause. In five minutes you'll be fine".

Way, way longer than you could've ever imagined.

Yes, they actually become pretty normal afterwards. Good luck!

Don't they have to be "normal' to start with?;)

3 years, maybe more. Luckily no anger/ sobbing issues for me. Now I understand why dads in the old sitcoms wore cardigan sweaters around the house. cold enough to hang friggin' meat!

Not an issue for my wife, hot feet was it....but her sex drive went to zero (was seriously low beforehand) to the point that Mr. Happy has not been utilized for 4 years.....

SOLD! On it's way. Thank you! I'll save that much money in electric bills by November just from turning down the frickin A/C at night.

It was either that, or this….

Ouch! Try that new pink Viagra for women. Luckily, I'm not having that issue at all. She might even be more active. Strange how differently this effects different women.

Maybe you need to start putting some weed in her biscotti or something. That might make it worse though, so if you do and she kills you, I am totally joking about the weed biscotti deal.

HRT can make big differences....

I am dealing with M & M. Menstration and Menopause. Fifteen year old daughter and Fifty year old wife. Love them both, but wow. I think I know why girls used to be married off in their early teens. Take my daugher, please, and here's a goat to sweeten the deal. I keep telling myself that in five to ten years, we'll all look back at this and laugh. Hopefully I won't have to wait for visiting hours to see them.

We have a king size bed. I just got the Twin XL that covers her side. I knew I had a winner when my wife said she got a little cold on the second night and had to turn it up some.

I feel your pain Brotha. My daughter is 8 months pregnant and my wife 12 months into menopause. …And she asked why I've started going on so many long-range fishing trips.

Seven years bad luck here.
Estrogen replacement (low dose) can help if she's not a smoker.

Keep a small powerful quiet and portable fan by the bedside table.
Perhaps even a bowl of ice and a washcloth.
You'll need a plastic mattress cover and a lock for the knife cupboard.

Thant's what I did. Just her side. With A/C off at night I'll be fine.

Been there done that. HRT just trades one set of crazy for another (and killed the sex drive). I actually prefer the unmedicated version of craziness.

I read these threads and pray for an early death. Or lots of time in a garage that is not attached to the house. Far, far away......

Craig, maybe you should get back to the racetrack. Like every weekend?:p

I'm trying to see how menopause is fundamentally different than any other day. :D

When does it start? My wife is young, but never too soon to start planning.
