How many of you guys are night owls?

I always stayed up late, my whole life, even when I had day jobs, until my kid was born, then I got in the get up , go to work, come home, eat put the kid to bed, put myself to bed rut. I would rarely make the 11 o clock news . I think becoming sober played a part in it as well.
I was always up early, refreshed, and felt good but life was boring.
Now, since last season about this time, I will go back up to the shop2-3 nights a week, or work on something at home , till maybe till midnight, or so, then come home and cant sleep right away, so I end up watching tv, or reading whatever silliness you guys are dishing out till 2 am or so
I wake up groggy, but i am usually ahead of the game from working the night before, so it is a trade off
I think I like working nights better. Moving forward, I think I am going to do more of it . I get lots done, and I am always relaxed. Something about it is less stressful, I feel like I am on my own timeline .
Any of you ?

I usually go to bed around 3AM, wake up at 9:30AM.

I think it's my ideal schedule. You are right about working nights. It is relaxing to me as well.

Been working nights for 20 out of the last 26 years. Usually from 9pm to 9am. Enjoy the absence of the daytime busybodies who cause nothing but trouble, lets me focus on my work. Business is booming at night for me, so the night goes quick!

U[ at 6:30. Go out and hump all day dealing with all sorts of funky stuff. No longer do any heavy lifting. Be in the house between 3-7. Play with the kids, if there's time, I go for a bike ride for an hour or two. After 9. its my time. Catch up on paper work, get in some TV, then sit down until 11-12 actually doing work. Between all that I manage to come here out of habit and see what's going on. Go to bed between 1-2am. Between 9-1 is my best time tgrying to bid on jobs, solve problems. No one around, no distractions. When I was younger, before kids, I used to go to the shop and actually do work. I put that behind me now. I do this for months on end.

I've always been a night owl. I'll stay up until 3 no problem. I HATE getting up in the morning. Doesn't matter if I got 2 hours or 12 hours of sleep, I hate mornings.

I had been a night owl until I had a kid... I was even working in my shop while he was an infant. I would go out after my wife and son fell asleep. But now that hes a toddler and on the run i dont make it past 10 some nights any more. Hoping i can get back some of those productive late night hours once he is a little older.

Me too. I have been staying up late all my life. I remember when we were young, My folks would make us go to bed around 8-9 pm. Sometimes when I wake up later, I notice my parents would stay up and watch TV or hang out. I think it might have something to do with how you were brought up. I quit that when I hit Jr hi. My wife, on the other hand, have a hard time staying up past 9, even when we were dating back in college. She still like that.

Complete night owl. heck, its 2:00am and here I am. It helps that I don't usually get up until 9:30-10ish either. I HATE early mornings. The human body was simple not designed to get up before 9:00 AM!!

I have an admittedly odd schedule,

When I'm out working (like right now) I usually do about 8am-3am, time zone dependent.

When left to myself I would love 7am-11pm. I feel guilty sleeping in when im at home and could be doing something legit.

Night owl crew checkin' in- 2AM here. Just got in from walking the dog (in the rain). Probably would have been out jogging an hour ago if I wasn't injured.

It all started one summer when I was about 13, the friends and I stayed up until about 6am most nights playing nintendo games and whatever else was popular. Glad I don't have a typical 9-5, no way I'd be up and functioning.

I can make do with 2 or 3 hours in a pinch. I find I'm super groggy if I sleep over 8 hours.

Power napping works wonders as well.

In my early 20's, I could go a full day, then crash for 6 hours and be fine.

This is me right now, I hardly sit down during the day, while working full time and running a farm, and am truly ready to shut off the light at 9:30.

In my previous job, I used to run the newspaper press, which the shift ran from 8:00 in the evening until 4:30 in the morning. We printed several different local dailys, but Summer was a special time, because we didn't need to print the University paper, so we still got paid until 4:30, but many nights, we were out of there about 2:30-3:00. I would go home and work on fabrication out in the shop until I started to hear the birds sing (about 5:00 in the morning). That was some of my most inspired, and uniterupted work time ever, and usually fairly cool, quiet, with no misquitos.

I have no discernible sleep schedule - a graduate program in architecture followed by years of apprenticeship / internship will do that to a person. So will kids. I grab an hour here, a half hour there, etc. I've done it for years. Some nights I'll actually be in bed by 10 or 11 and sleep until 5 or 6 but those are kind of rare. Most times it's whatever I can grab when / where ever.

Yeah, about 5 to 6 hours of sleep is all I need and usually get.

I am a major night owl, I can stay up to 11:00 PM if necessary. No wait, I guess I don't even understand the night owl thing at all.

I really prefer to operate in normal daylight hours. Back when I was really into astronomy I often stayed up late or all night. Then I slept away most of the good daylight hours. That is one reason I got burned out with astronomy, it is something only done at night. I get up at 6:00 AM for work and I actually bounce out of bed withing a couple of seconds of the alarm going off. Even on weekends and holidays when the weather is crappy and nothing to I can't sleep past 8:30.

I only get 5 or 6 hours, but I want more. I fall asleep at 9 or 10 PM and wake up at 3 AM. I don't want to be awake, but I can't get back to sleep.
