I think the 964 is a continuation of the longhoods. I was young (ish) when they came out, but always remember feeling relieved that they had actually resolved the SC bumper 'issue'.
Hey, we all see beauty differently. My pick is that the 964's will eventually surpass the 993 as the Air Cooled car to have.

I'm an odd one I guess...I'd not kick ANY 911 out of the garage, but I have exactly the one that appeals too me...bumpers and all....maybe it's my age and the time they first grabbed my lust....I dunno???

I never really liked the way Porsche's looked. I like the look of front engine cars like E types or 69-73 Corvettes, I just do not like the way they drive.
So the deciding factor for me is what a car is like behind the wheel for the driver, but as far as aesthetics are concerned to me the dash and interior is more important than how the fenders, roofline, etc. look.
But I do think a 964 looks better than a 911 sitting on the street.

That photo was taken at the Oregon Parade in 1980(?) on the final corner of Portland International Raceway, leading onto the straight. Grady liked to use what he called "cantilevered" race tires.

Interesting thread and if this is the car in question, $80,000 seems like an inordinate amount
for a car in that condition. Previous owner notwithstanding.

But it's interesting to see how others view it. IMO. Hope whoever bought it is not disappointed.

It only seems like a ridiculous price until you factor-in what it is worth restored and the basic condition of the car, (highly restorable). It was a fair price and I was ready to pay nearly as much for it.

OK, I'll try that. .......... No still seems like a lot of money. I guess it's just too rich for me.

Like a previous poster remarked a bit ago, I'm also content with the Porsche I've got (993).
