It's not the same as the standard rock songs they crafted. Different formula.

Now coffeecur, I am happy to loan you my Acoustimass speakers for a brief time so you can enjoy and assess given you gots no speakers. I have the KLH's as discussed or perhaps an old set of 6X9 Jensens from a '78 Trans AM.

I love this tune.

I have plenty of speakers, just sold the Krell gear to drive them.

Not saying I'm completely out of stereo gear.

Still like several songs from Back in Black infinitely better than Thunderstruck... That one's never going to make my top 100 list.

Been wishing I could play that Stones song...

Have a Drink on Me is easily the best Brian Johnson-era AC/DC tune. Flame away.

That's cold. Be careful........JR's a ninja.

FWIW, I did just start listening to the High Voltage Album.

I don't know squat about ACDC in the grand picture. A couple years back there was a Pink Floyd thread and I went way back and listened to the Eugene/ax song/album. I don't know squat about them either. Cool thing is it's there for the taking.

Beer works well with ACDC. The old Pink Floyd stuff will require rekindling forgotten "contacts".

Thunderstruck is one of my favorites and I can't wait to see it played live in March 2016.

A lot of credit for that "sonic quality" goes to Tony Platt and Bob Ludwig, IMO.

If you want the best experience/sound, you will need to source an original 1980 Atlantic "A" pressing on vinyl. They aren't too hard to find either. Look for "Masterdisc" and/or "RL" (Robert Ludwig) in the deadwax.

For the CD, find an original 1980 (Barry Diament mastered) release. These are also plentiful, and are cut from the original Ludwig masters. They are easy to spot with "AC/DC" and "Back In Black" both in bold white font (not outlines), and "Back In Black" at the very bottom of the jewel case. They should have "SRC" in the disc's matrix code, indicating they were pressed at Specialty Record Corp.
If you want to get real picky (and have several copies to chose from) you might grab the one with the earlier father/mother/stamper numbers (SRC 01, 1-1-1, etc.).
It probably doesn't matter much, but I'd rather have something from the first glass master, father and mother than the 25th, etc.

Watch the "Let there be rock" video with Bon, in Paris 1979. When it was released there were a few movie theaters playing it with amps every 10-15 feet up the isles.

Perhaps.. This place is a never ending cavalcade of absurdist entertainment. PARF is like watching Hee Haw on acid.

Not a fan of Bon... Brian is a much more powerful singer. I don't think they'll ever top Back in Black.

This song is number 1 on my play list whenever I go for a run. The first :50 is my warm up time, and for the next minute I really start to get into my groove. At the 1:50 mark, when the drums come in strong, it's on!!!

Well, he was. Not saying I don't like the Beatles... I do, certain albums in particular. Some of their recordings were crap, though. And, he did record some interesting stuff with Wings.

I watched a little of the 1979 Paris concert in the clip posted above. Wasn't impressed.

It's a bit like choosing the 'best" Van Halen singer. Arguments for both Dave and Sammy... but most people have only one they like.

No one but Michael Jackson ever topped Back in Black with numbers sold, AFAIK. But the Bon stuff was way better. Dirty Deeds and Highway to Hell were far better. Though BIB is definitely the greatest comeback album of all time. But the songs were pretty much written and ready to be recorded when Bon died.

See, everybody picks sides...

There is one album that sold more than Back in Black.... Thriller. So, you might consider that Back in Black is better, since album sales is more of an average of everybody's opinion. Not a better way to judge, since you have your own money behind every vote.

I have to say, I don't give a rat's ass about who wrote what on an album. For the record, I do think they discarded Bon's contribution to the lyrics, in favor of what Brian wrote.

An album is a performance, by all involved. It's unique and it's all about how it sounds.
