JR, I am hooking up with my pal, close to New Years, that has maybe a $6,000 stereo to do the Back in Black assessment you suggest. I am wondering if 59 years of wear render even the Bose speakers too high quality for my ears. I still have to pick up a difference.

My ears are 56, limited to about 12k HZ, with some occasional problems at lower frequencies but I can still hear enough of it that it impresses. Great speakers and enough power, along with decent room acoustics, are key.

I don't think Diament is actually credited on that album, but he did master it to CD.

Regarding remasters: There are plenty of exceptions, but as a general rule with CDs, I tend to stick with the original red-book releases and avoid most remasters. YMMV.

Well now..........Let's see. After a couple of days of listening intensely, I like Shake a Leg best.

However, my trusted shop sidekick who is well versed in ACDC, long time from day one, said "I like this one" when Have a Drink on Me was playing and I asked do you like this or Shake a Leg better.

There is nothing like years of exposure for clarity.

Asked him which song is best. Back in Black.

Then we listened to the High Voltage album. He knew the farkin' lyrics. Plus, an outstanding air guitar performance post some Bad Elf Winter's Ale.
