Mustang Gone

Still one finger typin'.
Recovery proceeding apace, money to spend but no car.......just as well as I don't dare drive yet.

With a budget of 10-12k , I can do some shopping for a 2 seat car..

Recommendations? Miatas are looking good..............

Can't go wrong with a Miata JP. Have never driven an auto transmission but the manual is slick. They a are tad on the small side so I would go with a bright colour such as yellow or red to be more noticed. Reliable, good gas mileage but understand the later ones need premium gas. I came across one owner on the internet that sold his at 537k miles or maybe it was kilometres....

Oh yes I would buy one with a solid rollbar such as a Hard Dog. I would not drive one in winter anymore.

I was shopping for an S2000. looked at a ton of them, drove a couple. They were all clapped out. Ended up buying a very clean e36 M3, for less money. Much better build quality. And more fun to drive.

Hmm, those two don't seem to go together.

And I thought as we got older, we were supposed to buy a Mustang, not sell one.

Glad to see you're doing ok. I remember you from way, way back on a 914 board in the '90s (internet pre-history). Getting old is not for the weak!

I miss my Miata... crawling in and out of it? Not so much. Take Nota up on his offer and try the fit before you buy.

The 944 T is a super fun car to drive, but can be... Demanding to own.

Maybe get a Boxster?

I had to look back at your posts and see why you were one finger typin'. I hope you the best and a speedy recovery.
I'll take you up on that, when you have time. Every day is Saturday to me.

Have you considered a classic.....perhaps an '88 Trofeo?

I have it on good authority that are trending upward right now.

Scion FRS, not a lot of power at 200 hp and 151 torque but somewhat light at 2750 lbs. Can be had with 6 speed or a really fun auto with floppy paddles and rev matching down shifts. I just bought a 2014 and love it.

S2000 or FR-S. Both a hoot to drive.

Another vote for a Boxster. Although I have to admit a Miata would be a lot of fun too.

Despite the fact that we have been discussing my 951, if no wrenching is a criteria I would also recommend a Boxster. If nothing else, even an old Boxster is at least 11 years newer at this point. They are really solid, fun cars. The 951 is faster and has some of the old Porsche charm, but it's a car for someone that likes to tinker, even with some reliability upgrades like mine.
