Finally got Away

Mrs. WD and I run our businesses together and it’s been an overwhelming year. Too many opportunities that were to good to resist plus the growing pains that accompany an expanding business have worn us out. We have taken exactly one day off since last September and Mrs WD had had enough. She declared we were going to get away. She wanted to go back to the mountains of Tennessee where she grew up, and get, “as far up into the mountains as we can get and still have a hot tub.” She found us the perfect place. It was high enough up that they told us we needed four wheel drive to get to it if the weather was at all inclement. Perfect. So we packed six days worth of food and booze into the Tundra and ran for the hills.

Our cabin overlooked a valley where the clouds poured through the passes like white lava.

I can only imagine what Mrs WD thought as she stared out over her beloved hills.

The view from the cabin porch was spectacular.

The sky was clear and clean and one morning there were no clouds. We could clearly see the alignment of the planets Jupiter, Venus, and Mars. They were incredibly bright.

Now and then we took time out from enjoying the view for cigars and martinis. I wonder if the hot tub has a gin filter, 'cause there was some spillage.

Nice, you are lucky to have her and should do it more often, if only for a long weekend. Do it now while you are both able.

Nice! Enjoy. But....who took the pic with both of you (presumably) naked in the hot tub? No need to answer!

Great pics.

We wanted something for our Christmas card this year. It was just the two of us there with Mr. Nikon. Mr. Nikon offers 20 second shutter delay and then 5 shots at 1 second intervals, so 25 seconds to get back in the tub - plenty of time to take pics for the grandkids.

edit: For the guy who PMed me, no we didn't really take this photo for our grandkid's Christmas card. I guess I should have put that in green, but I thought it was an obvious joke.

Good on you and the Mrs, WD! Beautiful view there...I presume that would be the Great Smoky mountains of Tennessee? I've never been but it sure looks like a very serene and ideal place for a getaway, which it sounds like you two have got to do more of!!

Me and the missus make it a point of doing a quickie (yes, that too!) getaway on a regular basis to our Rocky Mountains here in southern Alberta, whether it be to Banff or Lake Louise, in the P car of course!

...gotta recharge the batteries!
