2016 Escalade tail lights

Anyone been behind one of these things yet?

I had the unfortunate pleasure this morning.

Really annoying, they are really thin LED that run pretty much from the bumper up to the roof.

Bright as hell and they either leave burn in on your retina or have some weird refresh rate. I found it very uncomfortable to look at this thing for more than a couple of seconds and when you glance away they seemed to strobe / leave a brief residual image that follows as you look away if that makes sense.

The turn signal is about 1/3rd the height and on the inside of the tail light and not easy to visually pick up.

Really bad design for anyone driving behind one.

Yes, they are horrible to look at. The front LED lights on cars are almost as bad.

The important thing is you have the most LEDs on the road.

WINNING.

Might cut down on tailgating.

If you can't pass an Escalade you shouldn't be here. And a damaged retina isn't an inappropriate penalty.

No one passes anyone in the school pick up line unless they want a bunch of irate soccer moms opening a can of whoop ass on them.

Sorry. We build what the customer asks for. Even when lighting has issues, it's rare they will deviate from the vehicle design.

We once suspected the headlight lenses from the Ford Cougar (1998-2002) would act as a magnifying glass. Nothing was done. Turns out it was the correct guess when Cougars started having their headlight housings melted when the sun hit the lense at a specific angle.

Not blaming you, I realize it's a spec item.

Automotive lighting would be such an interesting field to be in right now. I look at the Audi and Mercedes DRL tube lights and crisp led tail lights and I'm in awe. I think back to those crappy 7" sealed beam units on the 70s English cars I had and I'm glad for modern technology!

Perfect for Escalade owners who don't care about (or even acknowledge the presence of) other human beings. It's all about them and what makes them more comfortable or more able to brag to their friends about their latest "bling".

Then again, Cadillac design has always been about being more ostentatious and even more obnoxious than anyone else. I'm not really a fan of anything they've produced (although I give respect to the CTX as a piece of engineering art and skill). It's still ugly though.

^^^ Agreed.

Obnoxious vehicle, so the lights suit it. These trucks are all about "look at me"

I remember the classic movie "Gumball Rally" where one of the drivers ripped off the rear view mirror and stated "the first rule of European driving.....We don't care what's behind us" !

Don't worry, by the time they're 5-10 years old they'll all be rollin on 28"s so the tail lights will be way up high in the air.

I REFUSE to believe Ford knew about a problem with their cars and did nothing about it!

I realize it's illegal but....I would smoke those tail lights. They are so bright that they would actually look normal if they were smoked. And BADASS - LOL!

i like them!!

okay, the layout might be weird. but i cant deny liking the brightness. following a guy with smoked tailights, it is the opposite. put in some San Francisco fog treatment and it gets crazy. i vote bright is better than dim. safety first..

Bright is better than dim, TO A POINT.

Past that point, (and this classless schit wagon is waaay past that point), you are going backwards. The lighting is actually worse, and less safe. If brighter is always better, why not make them 3x brighter than now??
