New ride - excited!

This one should be wending its way here soon...

This one is getting kicked out of the garage to make room... it'll be sad to see it on the street. At least they don't rust anymore.

Nice! Though I'd be finding a garage spot for both.

Yep, the BAT car. I'm looking forward to taking it apart. Big plans for it.

BAT is evil. There was a white e28 535/M5 mash-up on there this week that is still haunting me.

No kidding! Auctions go against my business principles - who haggles upwards?!?

They do seem to get a good flow of great cars though.

That white 535i was stunning, a whole lot of car for the money, any idea how much it ended up going for?

Looks like the white on was withdrawn

sweet GTV! Super jealous. I spent my teen age years driving a Fiat 124 Spyder dreaming of one day picking up a GTV.

Nice Score.

$32,500 I think. Strong money, but they aren't getting cheaper or building new ones...

I sold my 86 535i several years ago and soon regretted it.
I watch craigslist everyday looking for one to pop up.
What are your plans with the Alfa?

What are your plans with the Alfa?
Return it to street-ish trim, lose the cage, install the bumpers, GTAm wheels in Gold, 4-pot brakes, detail/paint the underside, some light engine work for driveability & reliability. Install yellow driving lights.

Basically, want to it to be a straight, fun knock-around car. Semi-daily driver.

A 535i sold for $32,500 on BAT!

I thought that only 911 Porsche prices were skyrocketing.

So my daily driver e28 M5 (167K) may be worth a bit of coin?

Cheers,

Eddie

Congrats! One of the nicest looking cars ever IMO, especially with the step nose. Are you going to look for the flying buttress seats? Leave the nose red?

Beautiful car, congratulations.

I'll be the first to admit I know little about Alfas (although I've been an Alfa club member for years, so I can run their track days with them). Can you give us just a high level overview of exactly what we are looking at here?

There are a number of these competing locally in our vintage events, and they seem to give the 2.0 liter 911's a pretty fair fight. They do seem to break more, however. How is reliability, drivability, etc?

To be honest, I don't know much about Alfa's either (but I'm learning). This one is a 1966 Giulia Sprint GT Veloce modded to look a bit like a GTA racecar. It has a semi race suspension, up-rated 2.0L engine (from 1.6 stock) and a few other goodies.

I'm sure being Italian, they are finicky... but like 356s, if they aren't rusty, the mechanical are simple, and probably pretty reliable if properly sorted. Not sure about the driving experience yet, but I'll report when it arrives. Folks say they are a hoot. Well balanced, torquey, handle well.

I'm going to leave the nose and interior as is for the time being, it was done recently.
