Yep saw that and some other interesting relics while prowling the boat yard in Port Townsend this summer.

I Also came across Treasure and John Guzzwell there starting another dry dock . John well into his 80s built Treasure in the 1960s and sailed widely with her.
His book Trekka around the world was inspirational to me early in my sailing life.
It's the story of his trip in a home built 21 footer.

I stopped in the next morning to lend a hand getting the work started but john didn't show. Would have loved to talk story with him. A quiet man with big accomplishments.

Cheers Richard

There is a series on PBS called "Ultimate Restorations" with one being the last Clipper ship off of the North East Coast. Big money, incredible craftsmanship.

I have a buddy that bought his Buchan 37 for a dollar. Biggest ripoff I've personally seen.

thats funny

I've been working on basic boat building skills with hopes of building a 12 1/2 one day. The $$ and effort involved in a 'small' boat in pretty crazy. I cant imagine whats required for the beast above. Talk about a labor of love.
