There seem to be more and more early(97-99) Boxsters for less than $10k Canadian.
2000 and up Boxsters seem to be holding their value better.

Now more affordable to the point if the engine grenades it costs less to buy a used Box than to buy and replace the engine. Got to be one of the best car bargains going. I have no financial interest in this. I just like to spread the joy of Boxster ownership!

Here is a challenge for you. Try a test drive and see which is the most fun. Other than the occasional rear seats I see no advantage in a 911.

I've been a passenger on the track in a couple of Boxters and was impressed in the way they handle.

If I didn't have young kids that enjoy Porsche rides, I would have a Boxster as a daily driver. As much as I like the 996, the 986 is more fun to drive. Plus they are dirt cheap, relatively practical, reliable, and get great MPG.

I have said this here before: This 997S driver thinks the Cayman/Boxster is far truer to the original 911 concept, and is generally funner to drive.

The 911 does have more creature comforts. Its a great GT car.

You hit the nail on the head - the 911 is a great GT car(excepted 993 and earlier 911's). Good for carrying the "hobbits" as mentioned above as well. Not being a 21 yo I don't really want to drive further than four hours in either a Boxster or a 911. Then I would want a Panamera and can carry a couple of zombies.

I'm a bit spoiled here is SoCal but I see 2000 boxster S going in the $15K range... makes me wish I had invested more wisely

Typical base model early boxsters are well under $10k around here. Some down in the $7500 range.

I wish you guys would stop these 986 posts. I just bought a Z4 so don't make me have buyer's remorse!

Just kidding. I considered the Boxster S but there are just too many of them in my neck of the woods. Superb cars for the price.

I'm not seeing prices like this in Ontario.
You can buy an E36 M3 for the same price though.
Way more car in my opinion.
