The Affordable 991 Thread
I would love to have one. Man, I cannot believe how much they've dropped in the past year or two.
$60K: FS: Carrara White 991 - Rennlist Discussion Forums |
Wow! That will put downward pressure on all models...
|
I've seen 2009s for under $50k. It will be interesting to see how they hold up in the enthusiast market. They are far less DIY friendly and much more digital than the still fairly analog 997.
Edit, meant to write 2012 as in early 991. 2009 is a 997.2. Too much bourbon with Thanksgiving dinner I guess.:) |
2012?! That would be a 997 not a 991.
Carrara?!? |

I bought a 2013 carerra I wanted the S but found a carerra with manual transmission, pasm sport suspension, torque vectoring and sport exhaust. It has S wheels so has everything but the 3.8L. It's a great car and would recommend one to anyone. Totally different than my 87 but not sure I'd go back even if I could afford a second Porsche. |
^^^OK! Didn't know that....I stand corrected!

The frenzy surrounding special order cars and the re-flipping pandemic has apparently pervaded the customer service sector. It seems that owning a Porsche is now a privilege and we should thank dealers for simply being willing to answer our calls. The atrocious reception I received from Beverly Hills Porsche Customer Retention last week in conjunction with their service department attempting to charge me $2,500 for $600 worth of work has soured me on the marque. After 10 years and 4 late model 911's, I'm out.....won't give these d-bags another dime of my money. Canceled the cars I had on order and went out and bought a shiny new non-Porsche. Vent over; sour grapes, yes." |

$60k is not affordable. Not at all what I'd buy for $60k either.

For some folks $60k is pocket change. For others it's some sort of retirement.

I drove my brother's last night.
The stability control passed the unintentional test, and I may never see the keys again. Probably a good thing. So smooth and powerful, it is unlike the older cars....peak torque is everywhere.... |

To bad there isn't a gopro video to accompany the post! |
We got out and he says 'The rad fan is on! I've been driving it three days and the fan has never been on before'.
Mission accomplished. :) |
$60k is certainly cheap compared to what a new one costs. They can easily be double that with a few options. His car is a real dog with that color combo, IMO.
I posted pics before of this one, my friend picked it up in showroom condition with very low miles for $78k over a year ago. It's an "S" with manual transmission. EDIT: I can no longer post pictures from my iPhone because of the jpg/jpeg issue. It's in an old thread, black/black showroom condition. |

Wasn't the gen 1 991 the first electric steering 911, and somewhat bland in that regard? I've read that they've improved it since in the GT3 came out and also in the latest 991 but nobody has confirmed whether or not that was a software fix retrofitable to earlier cars (or was there more to it than that)? Then again who am I kidding, I really want a stickshift 997.2 anyway - last of the analogs, proper number of gears. Not seeing many coupes under 50 yet !

I want one too. Wait, did I say that out loud? SmileWavy:D
