I'm thinking that Malaysia might run things a little too loosely for me to feel comfortable riding in any of their airplanes.

Looks like they're ex-Lufthansa last owned by Air Atlanta Icelandic.

Ya, thats not hard to chase down via the internet. I'm thinking the company knows where they left them, its just cheaper than paying to scrap the bastards...

I'm thinking of backdating a 747. Will that hurt the value?

So, last week I skipped a ppi and bought a 747-800 off ebay:

Took it home and fired up Stihl chainsaw/ mapped my cut:

Now the top section is off.

Found a donor top off a neighbors 747-100 series:

Welded and bondo'd top onto 747-800:

Off to paint and body!

Article says the airport may sell them if they go unclaimed. Most likely for scrap, without logbooks they aren't worth much.

Way sweet.

Hand file or did you puss out and use a Harbor Freight air file? It's ok if you did. Not throwing stones.

That's just silly.

But I've just bought a Lincoln MIG welder with an aluminium feeder hand piece. I know these airplanes have a serious rep for maintenance, but I'm keen to learn, and I could practice on the unstressed bits first. I'll post loads of pics.
