So, last week I skipped a ppi and bought a 747-800 off ebay:
 Took it home and fired up Stihl chainsaw/ mapped my cut:  Now the top section is off.  Found a donor top off a neighbors 747-100 series:  Welded and bondo'd top onto 747-800:  Off to paint and body! |

Article says the airport may sell them if they go unclaimed. Most likely for scrap, without logbooks they aren't worth much.

That's just silly.
But I've just bought a Lincoln MIG welder with an aluminium feeder hand piece. I know these airplanes have a serious rep for maintenance, but I'm keen to learn, and I could practice on the unstressed bits first. I'll post loads of pics.
