Jimmy Page on Tour

I am putting this out there because I know there are some music fans and I am hoping the board will help me keep an eye out for tour dates when they are announced.

Jimmy Page Reveals 2016 Touring Plans | Guitar World

Jimmy Page says he'll be touring in 2016. According to the former Led Zeppelin guitarist, he's assembled (or will soon assemble) a new live band that's "totally different" from Led Zeppelin.

In February, Page said he was getting "fit" enough to perform again and that he was "warming up on the touchlines." Now, however, Page has confirmed to Classic Rock that he will, in fact, head out on a 2016 tour.

"There will be all sorts of material from different eras," Page said. "Right across the board; that’s the way I’m seeing it. But like I said, there will be surprises. It won’t be entirely what people might be expecting."

Despite the occasional one-off appearance, like last month's performance of "Rock and Roll" with Paul Rodgers and Duff McKagan (and with Foo Fighters a few years ago; see below), Page has been absent from the touring scene. He attributes this to his tiring work reissuing the Led Zeppelin catalog.

"It was a question of having time," he said. "The only way to have time is to shut down and then do what you want to do. I’ve been doing so much Led Zeppelin stuff over quite a number of years now; so it’s not been so easy to think about anything else in the tail end of this year. But OK, next year, bang!"

Stay tuned for updates.

Who cares about that kiddie diddler!! For christs sake even Robert Plant has come to his senses and finally put LZ to sleep, "Enough" some things were meant to end. There's a 100 or so different guitarists I'd rather see than him. Only my opinion. That's my dream of remembering LZ, seeing Jimmy Page playing "Over the HILL and Far away" noooo

Good lord, the negativity. You have your opinion; I have mine.

Of course there are others but how many truly enjoy being on stage and playing or music in general. After all these years, he can still play and enjoys it.

If he enjoys playing and being on stage so much....where has he been for the last 15 years. He really hasn't done anything besides an appearance here, a appearance there?? I heard Plant say if he has to sing Stairway to Heaven publicly again he'll puke!

Page is one of the last living legend guitar players I haven't seen yet. I need to get out to see him this time.

BTW, why is it a lot of work to reissue an album? I never understood the whole reissue thing. I can go buy any of the original LPs, CDs or download them anytime I want. Why would I need a reissue?

...Because he painstakingly re-mixed nearly every one of their albums, song-by-song. Remember, he was a studio musician and producer before he was the lead guitarist for Led Zepelin. The re-mixes are significantly better: cleaner, more transparent, etc. But like you said above, he is one of the last living guitar legends, so definitely worth seeing.

I saw Led Zeppelin once in 1975 at the Seattle Coliseum - FREE! We broke in. Led Zeppelin - Official Website

and then in 1977 at the King Dome. Jeane Dixon's predictions ain't got nothin' on this bad mutha!

Have I seen a ton of guitarist since then? Hell, yes I have!
Would I go see Page play again? Well, that is like asking me if I would see Rush for the 17th time if I had the chance. No question! When you love music, you want e v e r y drop until your last dying breath!

Crazy - I saw that show too. High school Junior. I had tickets for the 17th and came back on Friday with friends after the BC shows just to be there. We ended up being let in by a Seattle cop.

It was dark and rainy of course and after running around the Coliseum exterior found a spot next to the windows and some double doors that was hidden from view by big concrete planters where we could see through the big corner gap in the seats with a perfect view of the stage. The four of us thought we had pulled off the big coup, having only missed about 20 minutes of the show. After 10 minutes a Seattle cop walking the inside concourse spots us and comes over to the windows to as if to chase us a away. We just sat there looking at each other through the glass, and he leaves. 5 minutes later he comes back and opens the double doors we were standing by and sticks his head out. He didn't say anything, just stood there for maybe 20 seconds and then stands aside - and let us in. I'll never forget that one. See Page again?, oh yeah.

Great story. How amazing is it that you and I were at the same show... some forty years ago! What are the odds? Hey, write your story and submit to LZ.com. I am sure they will like that and post it just they did mine. Good luck! You didn't see the broken out pane windows by chance did you?

I did not see or hear broken glass, but we would've been inside already. We had waited all day so as to be first in (yeah festival seating!). I do remember the scalping and bad newspaper reviews though and could easily imagine the crowd issues. Zeppelin was the biggest thing in Seattle in a long while. I think this is the tour after they were banned from the Edgewater for trashing the room, throwing the furniture out into Elliott Bay and leaving a mudshark in the tub. Rock on.

I saw them play August 29, 1970. Man-Pop Festival. A summer storm tore the outdoor stage apart ruining the PA and all the amps. They moved us into the arena next door where they borrowed amps and a PA from local bands. Zeppelin played on the floor (no stage) and the crowd on the floor sat down so everyone could see. As they started to play one freak started to dance and two local cops moved in the stop him. The crowd roared at them and they backed off and let him dance.

I was 15. Got home just as the sun was coming up. My old man met me at the door and said "Your mother was worried about you all night". I was soaked to the skin and I ruined my 110 camera but I remember it like it was yesterday.

Heck, I might have seen you at the Kingdome!

I'd check in to see Jimmy, especially in a smaller venue.

Jimmy Page is still alive?

My brother is a good guitarist. When he was playing a lot of gigs, the local music critic guy said he was the best in the area anyway, so he is not bad. Back in the day, he would do imitations, Keith Richards, George Harrison, Angus Young, Jimmy Page, David Gilmour, whoever. When he was not screwing around he always sounded like David Gilmour to me. He used to say the key to doing Jimmy Page was to be sloppy.

I love Zep. When they were around I was too young to see them in concert but I did see Page and Plant about 20 years ago. The sound was really pretty bad but I am glad I saw them. I wouldn't go and see them again. Now, Pink Floyd was great at the Rosebowl. I go in a heart beat.
