New 4 legged member of the family!

I told Thuy a few months ago that we could get a dog once she got a job with no travel. Well she started her new job yesterday so we went rescue dog hunting over the weekend. Her and the boys fell in love with Teddy the schnauzer, and I have to admit he's got a piece of my heart too. Picked him up at the shelter today after he got snipped. He was an outdoor dog before so we need to train him but he seems smart and is super docile. Great with the boys too!

Pretty sure the boys and I will be thoroughly ignored for a few weeks!

Lol thanks Jeff!

Poor little guys must have never seen his reflection! Every time he walks by our big mirror or the fireplace glass he stops and stares.

He just can't believe his good fortune.

Cute little feller - here's wishing the whole family a long, happy life together.

Have yet to hear the little guy bark. All the commotion at the shelter and never a peep. He's wimpering tonight afterwe kenneled him for bed.

Super cute dog! His coat looks softer than I pictured a Schnauzer's would normally be.

He's very soft. They said he's a blue Merle, not sure if however they breed them for that color makes them a bit softer.

Poor guy is having trouble going to sleep. You can tell it's not real comfortable for him to lay down watching the way he keeps trying to keep his legs from laying against where his nuts used to be. I feel bad for the poor little dude.

Excellent find and rescue, guys. It looks like he'll be a very enthusiastic member of the family. And he's German, so he'll probably love riding in the P-car and the VW.

When he heals up and the weather's good, maybe he'll be racing everyone to get in the pool.

Heyyyy... check this out... he may want to head to the coast next:

Yup our pool is a bit cold now but come summer we will see what he thinks of swimming. We've got a nice step area so he can ease himself into it. Then from there we will try the beach on our next CA trip. Not sure if surf with him in those short nasty waves, but I'll put him on the paddle board for sure if he's good about it.

Are you still up with the pup? Give him a bone to chew. He'll be right in a wee bit

Yes still up. He's finally asleep though. Poor bugger had a long day and hadn't napped. Didn't show much interest in toys or treats this evening. Hopefully that changes as he settles in. The vet that did his snip noted that he needed to see a full service bet asap for dental, but no not of what's going on. He ate canned dog food just fine.

He needs roughage too Sid, to clean the teeth. Good dry food will help, fresh chicken necks are good along with other fresh soft bones. Vet just thinks he has some plaque build up. A good supply of fresh bones will often fix that (just no sharp ones or ones that'll splinter).

Watch the teeth, especially if he has soft fur.
The fur can get caught between the teeth and cause problems. We had a poodle (much missed) who had this problem.
The vet was the only one who could 'floss' him - if we didnt notice the buildup sometimes caused bad breath, this was the early sign.

He will soon be the Alpha Male in your family!!!!
