R.I.P Mr David Bowie

Gone at 69. There's a Starman.

WPOZZZ 01-10-2016 10:58 PM

Just saw that. RIP Ziggy Stardust.

Bill Douglas 01-10-2016 11:28 PM

How very sad. He contributed so much to the good times we've had.

I didn't think he was a "Bottle of Jack Daniels" a day sort of guy. It was cancer http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-3393470/David-Bowie-dies-18-month-battle-cancer.html

sc_rufctr 01-11-2016 12:04 AM

"...ground control to Major Tom..."

RIP

RIP David Bowie

He had just turned 69 on Friday and left us with a final album (Blackstar) on the same day.

pavulon 01-11-2016 01:01 AM

The guy re-set the bar for real deal qualifactions. RIP.

Baz 01-11-2016 02:11 AM

:(

A creative genius who left behind an unprecedented body of work - we have lost a legend, who will be dearly missed.

Thin white duke

Wonder what happened?

Baz 01-11-2016 02:32 AM

Bowie reunited with 2 other Spiders - guitarist Mick Ronson and bass player Trevor Bolder with drummer Mick Woodmansey now the only remaining member of the band.

Son of a *****!

Guess we are going to have to expect more of this.

RIP

herr_oberst 01-11-2016 03:50 AM

Shocking.
R.I.P., Major Tom.

billybek 01-11-2016 03:54 AM

I was listening to something of his on the radio the other day and thought to myself how timeless the piece was (except that I could hear and understand the lyrics).
Very sad, he was a favorite of mine.

Oh Haha 01-11-2016 04:01 AM

I wasn't a big fan but his contributions to music can't be denied. RIP

berettafan 01-11-2016 04:37 AM

a shame. 'let's dance' is one of the greatest tunes to come out of an awful era of music. impressive that pop like that can last.

targa911S 01-11-2016 04:40 AM

and we all move up one space....

javadog 01-11-2016 05:07 AM

Well, that sucks. An under-appreciated talent and one of the most prolific artists of all time. I'd wager there's nobody on the planet that has a copy of everything he created.

I think people would be surprised to learn more about him, his work and who he collaborated with. A very creative guy whose shoes will never get filled...

Heck of a thing to wake up to (the news), one of my favorite artists of all time.

RIP

Bye Major Tom.

I was a big fan- a musical genius IMHO. I also thought he was a good actor, at least in his first time out in The Man Who Fell to Earth. Great sci-fi, too. I was working on a job in Chicago for a few days and saw he was the lead in the play "The Elephant Man." I thought he did a great job with that. I was just streaming his new album, too. Haven't even heard half of it yet...

Video: David Bowie's last release, Lazarus, was 'parting gift' for fans in carefully planned finale - Telegraph

techweenie 01-11-2016 07:18 AM

David Jones had to change his name to David Bowie because a cast member of the Monkees had already pre-empted the name. Ironic. Bowie never went to the 'where are they now' file.

Aside from a 5 decade string of hits, he had quite a film career... David Bowie - IMDb

Amazing all around talent. Fantastic charisma. RIP

Rtrorkt 01-11-2016 07:29 AM

Good Bye, Major Tom.

such a loss to me. I heard this last night and found it tough to sleep. really crushing.

rest in peace ziggy stardust:(

Cajundaddy 01-11-2016 07:44 AM

Epic musician and songwriter. I remember in the early 70s he was just too scary for me to appreciate. I was a 14 yr old kid and this guy was singing about cannibalism and infanticide. Aaak! As I got older I came to appreciate all of his work.

Bon voyage David.

Huge loss. One of my favorites growing up, staying relevant for decades. I love the Berlin era stuff - Berlin was the happening place in Europe in the 70s/80s. I am glad I was able to be there before the wall came down ...

RIP

One of the few artists I am going to miss. Goodbye Major Tom.

I have so much respect for Bowie. How he grew, and how he aged. I wish he'd lived longer, he still had music in him, but I'm grateful for his providing much of the soundtrack for my life.

I was never a fan of his music, but I always admired his creativity, persistence and style.

We have lost a talent, I sympathize with his wife who apparently had a most durable and positive relationship with a guy who pretty well set the standard for unusual.

"Struggle is real, but so is God" she tweeted....

God bless David, Godspeed....
