Wildly inappropriate commercials on daytime tv

it is getting a bit frustrating. watching a family movie with my 6 and 11 year old kids and a commercial for some 'magic' show is aired over and over again showing a woman half naked riding a guy (dry humping) in mid air and moaning in pleasure.

and after that in giant letters center screen is the word 'drug'.

and we wonder why our society is such a mess.

this gov't wants to force me to put corn in my gas tank to subsidize wealthy farmers but can't take the time to keep smut off children's television.

yep because helping overweight 50 something men get a hard on is more important than shielding young minds from trash.

The solution is simple.

Instead of b!tching about the content and trying to force others to conform to your arbitrary set of standards, simply turn off the TV. If you really want to watch a movie, there are literally dozens of options available to you: NetFlix, Hulu, RedBox, your provider's on-demand service; hell you could even torrent content that you think is appropriate. You're simply taking the lazy way out by complaining.

The "government" isn't forcing you to put corn in your gas tank. Wealthy farming corporations paid legislators to write the laws that dictate what goes into gasoline. They were willing to pay more than you were to get what they wanted. It's like eBay, but on a larger scale.

This is capitalism, not secularism. Turn the channel off. Send your complaints to the TV station. If the station and it's advertisers think it's losing viewers because of the ads, those ads might stop being shown.

So who should be responsible? You as the parent, the government as a regulatory body, or the 'psychopath person hood of the corporation'?

The government used to regulate what went on the airwaves in the leave it to beaver OTA days.

Deregulation has led to much more and way better content but its also a bit wild west. But with that wild has also come more options, like on demand. Older shows don't even have commercials. Replay does a pretty good job of skipping them. Netflix is also commercial free for the TV shows I've seen. Your just gonna be behind in the viewing schedule.

With freedom comes responsibly of choice.

But man, I'm watching Mecum sell classic cars, or Wayne Carrini and every single commercial break has a 90 second ad for boner drugs. Radio too. Truly does get on my nerves. My kids are grown but I still quickly grab the remote and flip channels when my 19 yo daughter is in the room.
