Anyone else having troubles with Windows 10 becoming unresponsive after latest update
I got the latest "update" (build KB3124262) from Microsoft for my windows 10 system sometime last week. I noticed opening programs and apps became slow and once opened they would quickly become unresponsive. I thought that the update might not have installed properly so I uninstalled it. It downloaded the same day I uninstalled it and BOOM system becomes slow and programs and apps become unresponsive. I uninstall it... it reinstalls.... unresponsive. Sooooooooooo, I go into update settings, select the option that allows me to choose when the update installs, go into wifi and set my connection as a metered service so it will not download and all is well as long as the update isn't installed.
I'm just posting this out of curiosity to see if others here have the same problem. I did a google search and haven't seen many complaints. I also figure if anyone is having the problem and doesn't know how to fix it, well, here's a temporary fix until Microsoft comes out with an update to fix the buggy one. |

Unresponsive, no. Slow responsive, yes. I've never waited so much on an OS as this one. And this is on a fairly recent hardware, 4 gig of memory and lot's on the harddrive For grins I went back to the same websites on my other older xp machine and was amazed at how much faster and crisper the movement around screens and internet sites was, and this is on much older hardware, 2 gig of memory.
Yeah it's got pretty pictures and stuff but in actual use it is maddening. to the point I don't ever use that machine. I don't have much on that laptop I'll probably install linux on it. Wish I could go back to Win 7, trying 10 was a big mistake.

Agree with you guys. They always say you'll like the improvements they've made but never say what they are. I've found it slow, not very responsive, and despite what they said about the files all being in the same places, the organization has been changed to where it takes more time to get where I want. For sure, my next machine will be an Apple. I haven't liked having Windows 10 forced on me from the beginning.

I bit the bullet and went to iMac. Almost instant boot and super fast. Night and day difference. Both my windows puters were driving me nuts. Time to go to the dark side.

that's a good thought Nota, I'll check that out. I did not buy this machine new, It was bought second hand at a pawn shop and given to me to revive. That's one of the reasons I got the 10 is it was and is a frivolous machine to me, useful for experiments.

The Microsoft rule of thumb is that every other OS is designed as pure garbage.
Win XI will bring the masses scrambling back into the fold. It will be 'the release'. The devil that you know. Hopefully there will be a "Classic shell" for it based on XP. |

You have 30 days to "uninstall".......I would if I could.
Only loaded Win 10 on a spare old laptop I don't use anymore; just to try it out.....What a nightmare.....If I have 20 minutes to do something, it takes me 30 minutes to get it up, load the newest updates and open one of the very few programs it let me load.......Then I don't have time to do what I set out to do. Win 10 takes a huge amount of HD space and if you are on a data plan, all your data gets used with Win 10 screwing around......... Haven't used that computer since November.....
