When it looked like some operations might move out of state (TX courted them heavily) and take 1,000 jobs with them the town got very quiet.

Ha! I'm not surprised. Texas is cherry picking California companies left and right.

in desperation, i bought a bottle of the stuff from
TRADER JOES. it is way killer. more side flavors and not so salty and hot. you Los Angelos guys have it good. i was told this was the original. the flavor notes are damn great. slightly sweeter, and some herbs playing background music. i bought this bottle for $3. its the "strong" version, which i interpreted as "hot" ![]()

your definitely very late to the party, but its a great party to attend nonetheless. The smell is amazing.
I love it and put it on everything. We bought 6 huge bottles during the scare last year and Im just finishing the last one. I used to have a huge collection of hot sauces and enjoyed trying new ones, but now Im sort of ruined by my undying love and dedication to sriracha. If I made the stuff I would charge 15$ / bottle because the competitors brands never taste as good to me.

you think Siracha (rooster stuff) is spicy?
i find the first flavor to be salt. it's good, but the salt is ..it's very salty to me. i dont think it is too spicy. same level of spice as say, tobasco. i cant eat PHO without rooster sauce.

This is more like Asian ketchup:
![]() Quite sweet, but with really complex flavours. Awesome on pizza!

You guessed, it - this is really old news - especially if you eat Vietnamese food on a regular basis, out here on the West Coast.
I like the stuff but I try to avoid artificial ingredients. Unfortunately the rooster sauce has thickening agents. I used to work very close to the LA factory. Guy got into deep trouble with the neighbors due to smells. Not sure how it ended. The name of the sauce is the name of the boat that brought him to the US. He had many buy out offers but never took any. Very cool guy. G |

Since I'm trying to eat healthier, rooster sauce has replaced ranch to eat with pizza. Not that pizza is healthy, but everything is relative. I also love it on sushi.

YAWN!
Try the Sambal Oelek, Ground Red Chili Paste by Huy Fong Foods Inc. They used to be out in Rosemead, CA. but I guess they moved. Bin using it for I guess about 20 years or more.

Yeah....Sambal Oelek is much better. But it's not blended and you can still see pepper flakes. I use it with Soy Sauce as a dipping sauce. It kicks the flavor up about 17 notches. If you want for flavor and complexity, add a drop of sesame oil.

You can make the best steak sauce that you've ever had with Sriracha (1 tsp), Red Shell "Japanese Miso Dressing" (2 TBSP), and a thick Teriyaki marinade such as Kikkoman (2 TBSP). Don't use some funky weird Mrs Dash or Sweet Baby Ray's teriyaki.
Seriously, this is makes great sauce. |
