My Wife Said..."1/2" DOES make a Difference
Has anybody else put lowering springs on their street P-Car? Did that half inch make it difficult to navigate around town?
Sitting in the garage (after three hours hard labor and several bleeding knuckles) I was REALLY happy with the new stance...Then I went to get gas at the same Chevron driveway I've been blasting through since I bought the car. Think a half inch doesn't make a difference? Grrrrrrrrr! ![]() ![]()

Rut row. That sucks. Yeah, I had my show doing an alignment and they took out the Euro ride height. The car doesn't handle as well but I don't scrape the front skids underneath every time I leave the driveway.

Is that ABS? Pretty sure that can be repaired.

That sucks! Sorry for your troubles, Craig!!! When I first purchased my 993, it was on a cobbled together "lowered suspension"! The PO had installed lowering springs over blown-out struts, which he managed to adjust even lower. The car looked cool as hell and was sitting at about RS ride height, but rode like shiz! I have since installed Bilstein PSS10s and raised it back up to "reasonable" levels (still pretty low)! Much better! Slammed on a street car, isn't always all that...

Yup, they are sacrificial. If Wayne doesn't have them check Suncoast.

When I was lowering the 944 I measured our in ground lift to determine how low I could go. Went about an inch above that! Doesn't have many scrape issues! But I should have set it a little higher, I couldn't get the support arms up on the lift without a jack. So the lift process was still a pain!

Same approach, .5" lower, always an issue.
Lowered cars require special attention to approach/depart anything other than flat. I had my wife's VW Eos slammed, she daily drove it for 2 years, never had an issue. Guy who bought it, takes it for a ride with me in it, smashed in the oil pan... His problem.

Good one Motion, but I bet the $1495 dealer part didn't come out of a Stuttgart molding machine ....

I had a lowered GTI for a few years and scraped and hit things constantly even when being careful. I've thought about lowering my C4S a few times when I do some suspension work but keep remembering those issues and will probably leave it stock or very close to it.

Not an exact science as all models vary, especially when you throw after market wheels into the mix, but I like there to be very little daylight between the fender lip and the top of tire. Maybe just enough to fit a hand. That whole "tucked" and "stanced" look starts to open worm cans. Before I got my 993 back up off the asphalt, it was a process to fit a floor jack under it. PITA!

Now in 993 land ...

Haha - Motion is just getting back to us for the "I love China" thread where he caught a bunch of elbows into his rib-cage ... muhahaha.
Now, I took note, so when you sell that car to me down the road, Craig, I will note the non-original dam and it will knock 10k off the price right there! G |

Motion should check where his toothbrush, his wife's hair brush, his snow shovel, and a plethora of other household products are made before climbing on a high horse. Lets face it, completely avoiding products made through questionable Chinese labor practices is impossible. I can guarantee the $1400 OEM part was made in a 3rd world economy. Find me an American made lip spolier and I'll buy it.

I put an aero lip on my car after the stock one got destroyed. It is a little lower, but also juts out more. I'm glad they are "disposable" items that I get off eBay.

Although, I'm told the Chinese lip spoilers do have the same smell as the inside of a Harbor Freight. A pelican once said "that HF smell is the smell of ground up Chinese workers".
