It's usually called Laser Ablation, it is ain't new, It's used to clean dies all the time.
I could also be extremely dangerous.

I worked with a surgeon who did laser skin ablation.

All good by me.
The technology will get cheaper but I'm more concerned by the safety issues. Reflections from Lasers are dangerous and yet non of the video mention anything about safety.

Not trying to argue against the dangers of laser exposure but it took the mirrored coating off of those CD's in short order. Wouldn't a glass mirror suffer the same fate? Beyond a prefectly reflective metal surface (?), what reflection might there be to worry about?
