Problem with replacing the battery on my 997 key.
I just replaced the battery on my 997TT key. The remote works but the key doesn't work in the ignition. Does anybody know how to fix this?
I know....I could have posted this in the 997 forum but I thought I'd get a faster response amongst the elite and brainy PPOT crowd! Thanks!

Alex, go to the Rennlist 997 Turbo forum. You'll have an answer by morning I bet.

There is some degree of security feature where your car "forgets" the key after a certain period of inactivity. Maybe your car sat too long while getting wrapped? Search for "key doesn't work" or similar keywords on the Rennlist 997 forums. There is a process to re-marry the keys, maybe locking and unlocking with the key in the door? Issues with the remote and immobilizer on modern Porsche keys are pretty common unfortunately.

You did not lose the transponder when you replaced the battery?

Key is taught to car with PIWIS tool. Shouldn't matter how long battery is out.

Unlock door with key and put in ignition and turn 'on' within 10 seconds?
