Key stuck in ignition switch...

My daughter is away at school and the key to her Nissan Rogue is stuck in the ignition switch. It turns on and off. Goes in drive and park. Runs great. She just can't get the key out. She's also turned the steering wheel back and forth.

Perhaps the auto shifter is not recognizing it's in park?

Any ideas on what's causing it and a way to get the key out?

Hmmm.

Googled and found this.

The Nissan Altima is equipped with a theft deterrent system that prevents the car from starting without the registered key in the ignition. Another deterrent is the ignition key starting sequence that is built into the vehicle. If the incorrect ignition sequence is performed, the vehicle will not start. The incorrect ignition sequence can also prevent the key from coming out of the ignition. To remove the key, you will need to perform the correct ignition sequence.

She got it out. A Google search said to look for hair bands etc around the shifter. She had her charger wrapped around it and it was keeping the shifter from going into park I guess.

Haha. I learned something new. I am glad your daughter got her problem resolved.

Always funny when you look for a complicated mechanical answer, only to find that it's something stupid and simple.

I've learned to keep a mirror handy in order to spot simple and stupid...it usually works for me
