I have not driven my 930 in over 2 years, I am taking it to cars and coffee Sunday Morning with my boy. He is car crazy now, this should be a good morning for us
I am going to do some SWEET burnouts . not .
I've never been to one. What should I expect? , are these videos the reality of the scene? I am just not really into the he man macho burn out thing anymore. Heck, my 200k mile work truck can put down a bunch of rubber if I want it to , big deal

To be fair to Mustang owners, the carnage does not always take place on public roads :D

Was it just me or did the exploding tire look too low in pressure to start with. Seemed like a lot of tread flex on the rollers. Those should have been z w or y rated and not blow up. I feel sorry for the guy.

That's not his fault or drivers brain fade. But maybe the wrong tires or dyno setup or the result of stupidity of the previous owner who damaged the tire and didn't disclose it. He said he just got the car a few weeks ago.

masraum 04-17-2016 04:34 PM

OK, #1 was pretty funny, but 2, 3 and 4 were pretty sad, even for mustangs.

Geneman 04-17-2016 04:46 PM

aren't the spins caused by throttle induced understeer, then getting hard on the breaks which unweights the rear end, especially with the motor in the front. i guess if the steering wheel is slightyturned, or the cars are not LSD equipped, the torque spins it one way or the other..
just checkin on my car control details...

Wrong. It is 100% the owner's fault.

It's his responsibility to verify the car's state of preparedness, especially if he's going to be doing something like racing, tracking it, winding it up on a dyno, taking it on a cross-country road trip, etc. You can't slough off responsibility for crappy equipment on the PO once you've taken possession. This counts double if you're doing something silly like running nitrous.

VFR750 04-18-2016 01:49 AM

Except crappy po stuff is often hidden.
Agreed his tires should have been capable.
Guess you can't even trust fairground dynoguys. Go figure.

Not really. These crashes are caused by fkwits who couldn't drive a greasy stick up a dogs arse.

Yeah, I'd maybe give a pass to the guy in #2, since it looks like they are actually dyno-tuning the car in a shop. 3 and 4? These guys are at public 'dyno-days' to show off and get a cool piece of paper claiming they have 10 HP more than their buddies ... same mindset that causes one to careen into the crowd trying to do a burnout on the way out of a parking lot.

At least this Mustang made it out of 2nd gear. Targa Tasmania last week.

Wow, the no apparent reason would be too much horsepower in the hands of an idiot

VFR750 05-13-2016 01:47 PM

That was amazing how fast that got out of control. Driver had no sense whatsoever as to how the car would behave breaking loose. Almost killed a few people too. Yes too much power to brain ratio.

pwd72s 05-13-2016 06:43 PM

I hope I don't sadden any of you with this...

Yesterday, I made an 85 mile round trip drive in a Mustang! Harrowing it wasn't. Over two lane blacktop, divided freeway, city traffic, speeds from 0 to 85 or so... no disaster happened.

Guess I'm not driving well enough..SmileWavy

ckelly78z 05-13-2016 07:11 PM

Yea, i've been driving my triple black 04 GT convertible for the last few months with no incidents whatsoever. It is a little dicey accelerating around corners in the rain, but what car with some HP isn't a bit dicey in those conditions ?

Attend a "Cars and Coffee" and we'll see what happens...

Due to public outcry, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is now doing Cars & Coffee testing on all new Mustangs ....

IIHS Cars & Coffee Test Protocol for Mustangs

* watch closely at 2:46. Pretty sure there's a cup of Starbucks flying through the air.

Drove a Henessey ZL1 Camaro thing last week that we got in on trade. On dry pavement it hooked up like it was on ice. One thing you can say about high hp Porsches is at least they are capable of getting the power to the ground.
