Out of all the clips, this one is my favorite!

Can't argue the fact that there are no shortages of fools behind the wheel of a Mustang (excluding me of course), but I thought I'd share this clip. On the upside, this guy definitely knows how to drive but on the downside, he stole the car so technically he's "own" a Mustang.

OK, that 300 sounds pretty sweet.

Staging Lane Pileup at NMRA/NCMA Superbowl - Hot Rod Network

"Ouch — these photos of a staging lanes crash from the NMRA/NMCA Super Bowl are hard to look at! Allegedly the mechanical throttle linkage of the Watson Racing S550 Mustang hung up...."

Then, as certain as gravity and math, the Mustang did what Mustangs are supposed to do...

I bet that driver learned to drive in a Audi. Talk about UN-intended acceleration. He does not turn the engine off, he does not push in the clutch or shift into neutral.

Holy **** A Ford Mustang GT350 Turned Into A 100 MPH Fireball

pwd72s 08-01-2016 10:44 PM

My, that was exciting...

pwd72s 08-02-2016 09:04 AM

Actually, a tip of my hat to Ford for making this right and giving the guy a new car, since he was on a track and had modified the car. I doubt many car makers would do that...

Losing control on the street is on the driver.

Driving fast on the track is responsible, and it seems like the guy did all the right things, including turning it off, and using 1st to get some braking when nothing else worked. That is presence of mind!

Suffering an oil cooler failure and bursting into flames is on the builder of the part. Apparently Ford felt this was on them even with all the other modifications. Pretty darn scary.

pwd72s 08-02-2016 10:11 AM

From the Bullitt board's 350GTR owning track guy...his car definitely not kept in a hermetically sealed bubble:

"I'd heard about this a while back, that is a track pack car. Easiest way to tell is the rear spoiler, tech pack has a very small rear spoiler whereas the track pack has a larger spoiler. Tech pack cars do not have oil/trans/different coolers resulting in overheating issues on the track.

We just ran Roebling and that straightaway is epic. I had my R up to 145ish coming into turn 1, can't imagine that while on fire!"

This is Ford we're talking about. It was cheaper to buy it back than to suffer whatever other PR/financial calamity would befall them.

In recent months, Ford Mustang owners everywhere have been hated on, looked down upon, and otherwise dragged through the mud as a collective group because a few 'Stangs have been caught on camera crashing their cars due to foolhardy behavior. To us at The Drive, that isn't fair. First off, the world should know better than to judge an entire group of by the actions of a few. And secondly...are other types of muscle car drivers any better? Of course not.

For almost 50 years, the Chevrolet Camaro has been around to terrorize other motorists and pedestrians alike. Over the course of those five decades, the rivalry between Camaro folks and Mustang people has grown to levels that make the Montague–Capulet feud look like a tea party.

But of course, Camaro dudes and dudettes can be every bit as reckless, dumb, or inept as Mustang owners. And to prove it, we scooped together eight examples of 'Maros behaving badly—and getting smashed up as a result. Whether it's a hopped-up, supercharged, vintage Camaro drag-car, a 2016 rental-spec RS, or a Camaro created just for a movie, Chevrolet's muscle car has been responsible for quite a few of the more entertaining crash videos we've seen on the Internet.

Ok, I've been seeing the memes, but I have no idea what the original incident was. I did a google search and came up with a plethora of Mustang asshat videos, so I don't know which one you guys are referring to

Not sure what's worse, crashing a Mustang at a car show or the army of internet reporters that follows.

Daaaaanggg... that guy was committed! He had his foot in it nearly all the way to the curb!

ckelly78z 10-03-2016 02:08 PM

That douchbag almost wrecked before getting fully out of the parking lot. I don't know why anyone would spin the tires comng around a corner, with so many people waiting to die/get good footage.

That guy actually purposefully peeled out of the dealership to show off, which is why the guy behind was filming (they're buddies). Apparently he underestimated the rain...
