Folding paper. Origami

I can't wrap Christmas gifts. Folding a letter to fit an envelope is an occasional miss.

My coworker just folded this. Who knew there were paper folders out there? It's a "thing"

There's a movie about it, and it's really, really good.

I think its pretty cool.
An x coworker used to leave tips in the shape of a swan.
Waitresses dug it.

How many times can you fold a piece of paper in half?

The myth: You can't fold a paper in half more than eight times.* The reality: Given a paper large enough—and enough energy—you can fold it as many times as you want. The problem: If you fold it 103 times, the thickness of your paper will be larger than the observable Universe: 93 billion light-years.

Fun thing to do in idle time, like in airports, etc. Shuts up squalling children too. They love to watch it being made, then give it to them and they'll be enthralled until they lose or destroy it, but by then you're long gone...
The doc movie is great. Lots on the internet with clubs, forums, etc too.

I went on vacation to Kauai with my family and we rented a house.
My sis-in-law brought a bunch of books for the kids to play with...
One of the books was on origami, the kids were not impressed and ignored that book.
Long long time ago I played around with origami and out of boredom I picked up the book and started working on the projects.
Within minutes all the kids were sitting around the table with me folding paper.
My sis-in-law was somewhat bemused that the "crazy" uncle was entertaining the kids without even trying.

There's an App called "Dollar Ring Origami" pretty cool, you set it up so either the number or the word shows on the top of the ring- nice way to give a money gift.
