I lost my best friend today...
RIP Eric Anderson
My best friend since high school passed away this morning after a long and courageous battle with cancer. We met the fall of 1976 after both moving to Atlanta our senior year of high school. We hit it off instantly, as we were both interested in academics and in all things mechanical. We were together every day, through thick and thin, doing crazy things in high school, college and thereafter. We drove our sports cars on tracks throughout the southeast. The V8 power of his Mustang vs the turbo charged flat six in my Porsche 911. It's where we met up with old friends, made new friends, and learned how to make a car go faster and handle better. Eric was always there to lend a hand and do what ever it took to get someone back on the track. Including ourselves sometimes. After track days, nights were spent recalling the day with a cold beer and a good meal with our track mates. He made everyone's life who he met better and will be missed by all that knew him. RIP my friend. Gentlemen, get your PSA levels and prostrate checked. |

A man is lucky to have just one or two good friends throughout the course of his life. You are a lucky man to have had such a long and trusting friendship. I am truly sorry.
I was a senior in 77, so we are very near the same age. Unfortunately, we have entered the cancer years. Many at our age are experiencing the loss of friends or parents. I will lose one of each this year to cancer. Cherish the memories.

I lost my best friend last year to throat cancer. Couldn't get him to stop smoking, but it was a full and great ride.

I lost my best friend a couple years back. Recalling 30 odd years of memories is still painful. A road better left untraveled......but there ya are.

It's never easy and as we get older we lose more and more.
I'm 51 and a few of my friends around my age have had the same battle. Some have won and others aren't here anymore. It reminds me of how minor my own problems are. The best thing you can do is honor him and live on with passion. He'd want that for you. RIP to your friend.
