Yep...I had three of the WD's, one on each door, when the garage was built. Two of them quit working, so I replaced the one I use the most with a Liftmaster. The third door, I never replaced the opener. (that door is on the rear of the garage)
It's funny because the one WD I still have is the one I replaced the circuit board with a used one off of ebay......and it is still going after about 20 years!

I really like the Wayne Dalton opener. I think it's much faster than the Liftmaster. But in fairness, the Wayne Dalton is on a 9x8 door where the Liftmaster 10x12. I've been hoping they'd come back out with a new model but it's just not in the cards I guess. I really wanted to install the Wayne Dalton on both of doors of my attached garage.

I just looked on ebay....lots of parts, one circuit board for $30
A complete new one in box for $890 (crazy)

They are good openers....and easy to mount.

I'm honestly surprised the Liftmaster doesn't have more negative reviews since it is a homeowner installed system. Most people don't bother to check the balance of the door and with this style opener it's critical because the opener isn't really "closing" the door it's just controlling the rate of fall.

And yeah, $890 is pure crazy. I like the opener but not THAT much.

Exactly! The guy installing my door asked which opener I was going to use. He said what you did, jackshaft requires different tension on the spring to work properly. He actually asked to come back after I finish to makes certain everything was kosher.

He did, it was, and he gave props for my install.

A wise installer once told me an opener doesn't open nor close the door, it just tells it which position it should be in, open or closed.

I have had all of my Liftmasters installed professionally. That spring is no joke.

I've got the Liftmaster opener with the My Q remote. Like DD says, it's the bees knees. I can open garage remotely for guests arriving before I do and it's great for checking those "Did I close the garage door?" brain farts.

That was the best part of the Wayne Daltons. No messing with the torsion spring...just set the opener on the torsion bar and clamp it down to the bar and the garage wall.
Very simple install.

You don't really have to mess with the torsion spring with the liftmaster if the door is balanced properly. The process is really no difference for the Wayne Dalton or the Liftmaster.

The Liftmaster I have, I purchased at Home Depot and they had a deal going for some low price install with purchase. (can't remember but I think it was $50)
The guy was here for a half day doing it.

The Wayne Daltons I did myself and I could have done two in that time.
I should start a business.

I bought it at the time as it's the only one I could find that could accept the contact closure signals from my 2-channel RF receiver and pushbuttons. Most of the newer openers use coded pushbuttons and I didn't want to reconfigure the entire system. I'm happy with it. I think I got it on Amazon, Home Depot doesn't appear to carry it any longer.
