My first solos were in dad's international KB-5. It was the only truck I could drive because it had a hand throttle and I was too small to reach the gas pedal and still see out the windshield. I would drive it around the cow pasture in granny gear. Mom didn't like it, but dad thought it was great training. The key was always in it, so I took it out whenever I wanted to. I graduated to a GMC pickup and then a Henry J. I took my driving test in a 1964 Plymouth Valiant.

I learned to drive in a '63 Ford Galaxie. I learn to drive a stick in my '70 Beetle, driving it home from the dealer.

1968 Renault R-10. This is the actual car but the pic was taken several years before I started learning to drive (at least as far as my parents knew ).

Learned to drive in a 1984 Renault Alliance 4 door 4 speed (which, until now, I didn't know was really an AMC built just down the street in Kenosha...). No pwoer steering, not much in the way of power brakes...
Took my test in a 1985 Honda Accord automatic with all of the bells and whistles, which means I could have kept my eyes closed it was so much easier to drive than the Alliance.
