Why park "nose-out" when at car gatherings?

Here are my reasons for not thinking that it is a good idea:

1) My engine is in the back, so even if you wanted me to open my lid...
2) opening my engine lid displays something that looks like a vacuum cleaner, and spoils the body lines, so I like to leave it closed and not spoil the lines
3) 73RSR has big wide flares and I believe that ALL Porsches look best from behind

Three modles that I think look more impressive from behind and really show off the Porsche uniqueness:

Quick getaway.......Parking nose in makes you look like you don't have a clue. It just isn't done that way.

Since most all Porsches are only seen from behind on the road due to their outstanding speed and handling, this gives people the opportunity to actually see the front of the car in other than a reversed image in their rear view mirror.

I agree with the first two replies. I'd rather back into the space and pull straight out than park nose in and back out of the space later.

We do that with local PCA car shows mostly to make it easier to leave.

You know doing the Mustang style tire smoking burn out in a 85 911 is a real challenge!

Seems a shame.

If it was an early 50's cadillac you'd want to park it to show off the grill.

If it was a 60s muscle car yours want to park it to show off its engine

A 911, in fact the majority of Porsches. have more interesting design cues in the rear, including engine openings

At our local C&C, parking nose-out is a safety thing. It's sometimes difficult to back out safely with a crowd of people around.

Even on the corner it's parked nose out.

Everyone parks nose out to show it is a special event not just a bunch of cars in parking places.

IMO, Nose out is better because if you have the engine lid up, it blocks the view of the rest of the car. Park it nose out, lid up. If someone wants to see the engine they'll walk around back.

At one event I went to the fire marshal was there and he said by law at these events the cars must be facing nose out. he was not specific as to why it was the law he probably did not even know why. He made a whole bunch of people re position their cars.

It's a hangover from the old days where you had drank so much that you couldn't 3 point turn the car to get back home.

Easier to get at an engine fire? Not on a 911 of course, but the majority of other cars.
