I don't follow. It sounds like you are saying that reusable rockets are some new innovation.

My pal has an S. Three years old?

He has to drive it a few times a year to Columbus, OH from Oil City, PA to get upgrades, tweaks, re-flashes on this or that but no mechanical issues yet (that he originated as a concern). I don't think he has 25k miles though.

I don't know where you got that idea. Why aren't people railing against the Falcon 9? Why did you leave it out of your list? It's arguably one of his best-know projects.

My business neighbor bought a Model S. Spent a bunch more on wheels, black-out trim etc. ... and sold it with in months. Bought a giant obnoxious truck and a Prius instead.:-/

Sounds like growth pains from inadequate real world testing.
Is that tie rod (the rusted one) a hangover from Tesla's LOTUS ancestor?
I wonder if Tesla will become the DeLorean of the future, who was also involved with LOTUS.

I don't get all this hatred for Tesla. The guy is the quintessential American success story. I'm glad he's not just sitting on a yacht smoking cigars.
I disagree. he is an example of corp welfare.

If you are going to pick a winner he better be special.

Does anyone know if Tesla has a Facebook policy for employees?

There is a pelican who works there and some past threads.
I'm sure there is a heavy NDA, as with most companies, plus it is bad form to discuss.

I lost interest when they went for the 2-$peed transmission, booted founders, and turned to the government/stocks route.

I work there quite a bit.

When I read about a 'suspension issue' I was shocked it was a ball joint. There are bigger issues with their suspension. Ball joints have never been mentioned to me as a source of problems.

Which is why I was inclined to side with Tesla on this one customer issue. There are other issues that would have elicited a different response from me.

In reading the article linked in the OP, it sounds like there are some suspension issues. The following tale they tell sounds like BS. Two tow trucks, really? I guess one of the tow trucks would only work on a paved road or something.
Quote:
With respect to the car that is discussed in the blog post that led to yesterday’s news... the suspension ball joint experienced very abnormal rust. We haven’t seen this on any other car, suggesting a very unusual use case. The car had over 70,000 miles on it and its owner lives down such a long dirt road that it required two tow trucks to retrieve the car. (One to get the car to the highway and one to get it from the highway to the service center.) When we got the car, it was caked in dirt.

It will be three in September. We've had a lot of rain lately, well a lot for us and it seems the sunroof leaks have developed mold behind the a-pillar. We had reported an odd smell and they are saying that's likely the cause.

Why is Tesla a "massive scam" ?
It only seems a scam to the people that will be left holding the TSLA bubble bag

Tesla is a mechanism for collecting taxpayer subsidies masquerading as a car company.

How is funding an unsustainable startup and buying a fighter built to your specifications comparable?

When they catch fire on the run way without a reason.... Shall we not forgot it's not exactly what we wanted? The ruskies get the SU 35, and we get a donkey jaw....

Btw I agree with the two tow truck bs. If a low clearance electric car can make it.....

How unsustainable exactly? How do you see the endgame of Tesla? 5 years? 10 years?
