I thought I would post an update. This morning we took Dexter to the vet that performed the surgery for his last " follow up " visit . Dexter is walking very well but still wobbly at times. The surgeon that performed the surgery looked him over and told us no restrictions other than don't let him jump up/off furniture. Other than that wide open ! Everyone at the vets office was quite impressed on how quickly he has come so far. So now we are going to walk D-Dawg more so we can strengthen his rear legs but we are all happy campers

Still cried like a baby both times. Haven't had another dog for a year now because I can't face the thought of having to do it again. |

Our Sherlock had surgery about 7-8 years ago for a back issue. He's still a little wobbly, but not much. I'd put him at 95-97% back to normal. He takes a bit longer to poo, but gets the job done. He's a bit more unsteady when he hikes to pee. He can walk, trot and run (albeit a little slower than before).
We also did some physio-therapy with him after he got back on his feet. A lady that worked at the kennel where we'd take the dogs to get groomed was a physical therapist for people and suggested several things for us to do with him including stretching for the back legs. We also bought some really soft foam to get him to walk on (was unsteady and required him to concentrate on balance more or something like that). Got any pics of Dex's recovery?

Unfortunately we had a major issue yesterday while I was at work. My wife was home with the three dogs and let them outside as normal . After a few minutes our three dogs were barking through the fence at the neighbors dogs , normally when this happens Dexter works himself into quite the frenzy . The three dogs came in and slept for most of the afternoon. Around 3:00 my wife notices Dexter is whining/crying like he's in pain. She went over to his dog bed to pet him and he yelped when she touched near his ribs/hind quarters. Also noticed Dexter is not moving his rear legs just dragging them. I get home from work and Dexter tries to greet me at the door but he has to drag himself across the hardwood floor to get to me. We had a long night as Dexter could not get comfortable. Woke up this morning and he's the same condition so I have already called in a vacation day from work and we're waiting for the vets office to open. I don't have a good feeling about this

Oh man, sorry to hear that Dexter isn't doing so well this morning.
Hope it is something that can be looked after.

I hate to see animals suffer. The vet will know what is the best course of action.
