Wink Had an embarrassing moment last Friday

Last Friday I got out of the gym (just finished hitting legs) and my girlfriend gave me a buzz asking me if I wanted to go out to dinner with her. She sounded cranky (geeeezus she always gets cranky when she is hungry) so I politely agreed to go out with her and I drove down to her place. Since my legs were hurting I didn't want to take my GT3 out (as some of you know, the clutch is very finicky and my legs were already starting to ache) so we decided to take her boxster. Since she was really hungry, I quickly changed and I put on a pair of jeans and left the t shirt on that I was wearing. Anyways, I am driving in town and I decided to pull it out of sport mode and parallel park into a spot. As some of you know, sport mode changes the throttle response of the car; between the throttle response and my sore legs I stalled the car backing up! I was pretty embarrassed about it. Anyways, this old guy is walking by me and he turns around and is laughing at me! His wife looked almost as embarrassed as I was. He looked like one of those old PCA guys who typically go tour vineyards and talk about their 401k investments. It's almost like he has never driven a manual before. What do you guys think, is he a douche? Would you have done the same?

I admit to stalling the Cayman all the freaking time. I think you actually are correct, it's not the clutch. Porsche did some weird thing with the throttle tip in, like for some reason there is zero torque just off idle. As for the GF, it's your job to be her knight in shining armor when she's grumpy. If all it takes is food, then you have a keeper.

Don't they make a pill you can take to avoid the embarrassment of "stalling"?

Dear Mr. Baron, I am a scoutmaster/den leader for local cub scout camp #1225. If I recall, this was the same day we held our annual car wash fundraiser. Please send a heartfelt "thankyou" to your wife for letting us wash her car. As she was our first customer of the day, some of the children were overly eager in applying armor-all to the interior surfaces, including brake and clutch pedals. If this has adversely affected your driving experience, my sincerest apologies! Please know her contributions greatly help our troop.
Thanks again for your support!

I can barely walk after leg days, let alone driving a GT3, Boxster, or any manual car. But yeah, he is a tool for laughing his ass off.

Fooled me too. I didn't read the Boxter thread. I usually skip Boxster threads.

Guy in a muscle shirt stalls a GT3...yes, this old man would laugh.

Guy in a muscle shirt stalls a Boxster...might laugh or might just feel sorry for the guy (think probably just a hairdresser or one of the Village People)

I read both and concluded that anyone who cannot handle being laughed at should drive a station wagon.

I pulled my riding mower into the shade and took a short nap after mowing for two or three hours yesterday. My neighbor (sheriff's deputy) from several acres away saw me and came over...thinking I had heart attack. As he walked up...he said "are you okay?"...but I had earplugs in and ear "defenders" over them...plus, I already have lost a lot of hearing...so I did not respond. He ran to my house and called my wife out. I woke up as they walked up. Yes, it was funny and now I am likely the butt of many jokes. I heard my wife talking about it on the phone with my mom who is the biggest gossiper I know. I laughed too. What a clown.
