Grandma dirt bag

Going to AJ's just now, and witnessed an older lady take out the side of another parked car while parking. Prolly 2-3 grand worth of damage. Laughed it off till I was done shopping and noticed that the lady didn't leave an insurance note.
I remembered the plate and left a note on the windshield to call if they needed a witness.

I can't believe it.

You are assuming that she is even in her right mind. This will possibly get her off the streets, if needed. Glad you were there for the assist.

Had an oldster back out and into my car in a parking lot. I even honked but he kept coming. I got out and he came back yammering incoherently and trying to tell me it was no big deal. I realized my car had no damage but that the old guy's brain clearly had some. FIDO: F___ It, Drive On.

Have had something similar happen to me w/o the damage and stopped the older guy to vent. Afterwards I realized it did no good...he had no idea what he did wrong. I guess we will all be that way someday!

The AJs at Dana park? They should have cameras. I hope they do for his sake. I've decided that people suck.

Better she hit a parked car than a kid on a bicycle. Way to be alert. She may be one that ought to be off the road, and this may be the episode that makes it happen

Maybe 40 years ago I was driving to work on a sunny day in my white GT6 when an old guy came out of a sidestreet and T-boned me.Drivers door went in a bit. He then backed up a little and then came forward again and this time the door buckled right in such that I had to
lean over in to the passenger seat to avoid getting my arm/shoulder area badly hurt.
When I got out through the passenger door to remonstrate with the old guy, he wondered why I was a little annoyed!!
I went to his house a week later to collect the deductible from him, and his wife suggested I let him off as he was a pensioner. I told her firmly that he should give up driving right now if he couldnt see a white car on a sunny day.

When you hit a certain age you run out of f*c*s to give... Don't get me started on how much more difficult (twice) it should be to get a drivers license.

My wife was backing out of a parking space at the grocery store...all of a sudden THUMP... old dude in a crown vic put a serious ding in her rear bumper... he tried to blow it off and "no big deal, that will pop right out" (body shop estimate was +$1000).
He claimed to not have his insurance paper work, my wife countered with "well then I'm calling the police because you are driving without insurance." he then miraculously found his insurance paperwork
She also noticed the crown vic had several battle scars.

I actually feel bad for these old folks... sure they have diminished capabilities... but they come from a day when the roads and the parking lots were much less crowded... and the cars of their day you really could just pop out a bumper/fender with a ball peen hammer (ask me how I know).

I know getting the licence away from my dad was like battling the kraken.

The DMV needs to step up their game in testing the elderly.

In the 80s, I noticed a 55 Chevy Nomad at a gas station, and I wanted to own another, so I chatted up the owner who was in his 80s and pretty incoherent. Was sure his car was worth a ton of money, but up close, I saw damage on 1/2 the panels from scraping walls or other cars. I thought about telling him that the value of the car was dropping as he bumped into things and he should sell sooner than later, but realized that would come across as self-serving crap from a random stranger; so let it be.

The guy who killed 11 people with his car at the Farmers Market in Santa Monica was laughing afterwards and asking why everyone was making such a big deal about it.

As Tabs said, a lot of Pelicanheads seem to be 'there' already.

this and the regular operaters licence are far too easy for anyone to obtain.
Need a complete overhaul of the process.

If you happen to be driving around in the Bluffton, SC area and see a grey early 2000's Volvo S60 it could be my 105 y/o grandma.

She's stopped driving completely at this point, but only in the last few years. She had a couple parking lot incidents, thankfully nothing worse.

The one thing I actually LIKE about the near future of autonomous cars is that but the time I can't drive anymore I can just tell my car where to take me.

It is hard to take away the keys from a elderly driver if they are not ready.
