National media is selective on reporting mass shootings

Not to get all PARFy, but...

Yes, the national cable TV media is selective, but with good reason. There isn't enough hours in the day to report every shooting associated with gang activity, domestic disturbances, and robberies. The local media tends (local TV news, newspapers) to cover this.

Actually, they do have time. If you watch CNN and FOX news in the evening you would get the impression that only 3 or 4 things of note ever happen in a day. They pick their favorites and repeat the same stories over and over again every few minutes. They have plenty of time to report on something else, but choose not to. That's why getting your news on cable TV is a waste of time. There are lots of good sources of news out there, but not ONE good news source.

I give up...what about this is of national significance? What agenda are you talking about? Because the guy has tattoos? How many people are shot in Chicago every day?

Something looks fishy here. Pic on the right does not look like the back of the body pictured on the left. Are these supposed to be two pics of the same guy?

However, camera distortion could easily account for the differences. The doorframe and the top of his pants seem consistent.

How true (sadly).

People need to remember that cable "news" stations aren't about as much about news as they are about ratings and profits. For example, Trump was heavily covered, and legitimized by cable news because of ratings.

The stories are selected to maximize ratings in the target audience, and the number of stories are dictated by the staff available and the cost of covering the story. A story of only local interest would not have as good a ROI (return on investment). This business model is the same whether it is CNN, MSNBC, or FOX News.

The Days of Murrow, Cronkite, Huntley, Brinkley, and the network news divisions being independent of the P&L are long gone. The movie "Network" had it right.

ps I've quit trying to understand, much less watch, and broadcast media, It's all leftist, with the exception of Fox, which is mostly worthless and host-oriented.

Cable news - it's all about selling us soap and cola and beer.

(And the skinhead is a local story, I've been following it in my local news for since it broke...good catch about the two views, Patrick - maybe he lost some weight due to meth addiction since the shot of his back was taken!)
