Was just on last night. Gas drier took a dump. You tube to the rescue. New igniter on the way as I type.

YouTube is amazing for that stuff but sometimes you have to watch several different versions of the same repair to see any gaps in one videos procedures. Some stuff I've done recently with the iPad next to me;

- Audi A6 2.8 V6 timing belt
- Rebuild of a Sturmey Archer 3 speed bicycle hub
- programming a Siemens underfloor heater controller unit
- replacing an Apple iPhone 5S battery

It is truly one of the best resources there is for stuff like this . Sometimes, you have to weed through a bunch of garbage to find what you are looking for though

Washer (drain pump, shocks) dryer (heating element) dish washer (motor and control panel), garage door opener (trouble shoot then circuit board replacement) subaru (cabin filter replacement, brake job, wheel bearing replacement). I'm done laying on the floor fixing the subaru for a while. I paid to have the rear wheel bearings and brakes done.

Ice maker / water dispenser, pool salt cell fix and spa light replacement, LR3 suspension pump drier replacement. One of the best uses of the Internet I think

My 2 year old 58" LED TV started to randomly shut off. A quick search showed that I needed to order & replace the main board. Pretty simple.

I recently found an old Master combo lock without a combo in a junk drawer. .

YouTube to the rescue.

Spent Fathers Day teaching myself how to figure out the combo.

The real trick to the pick was hidden about 8 videos deep. But it worked!

Great stuff... Some recent videos that I found helpful.

1. I re timed my sewing machine. It now works better than when it was new.
2. Central locking fix on my Golf. Again like new after replacing two parts and resealing the vacuum hoses.
3. Fixed my 30 year old air conditioner by replacing the evacuation motor. Sounds easy but the video showed some tricks which made it a very quick job.

Wife sez: Heating element out in the dryer. Repairman can be here next week for $250 Bux.

Utube tells me to check a thermal fuse, resistor and relay with a multi-meter. I ck those and the element while I'm at it. Only the thermal fuse checks bad. OEM part is $26. On Ebay, I get all three parts in a kit for $6.59. Replace the thermal fuse and we're in Tall Cotton.

A bunch of stuff.
Cars,
Appliances,
Tractors,
House (how to remove individual shingles and replace them, etc...)
How to smoke a cigar
How to tie a windsor knot

As mentioned in other post here (on ppot at other times) and elsewhere, it's best to watch as many videos as possible on the subject to get an average on what people are doing. I am always amazed at how many people post stuff, who have never worked through it before and film their own newbie mistakes in real time. For pete's sake- at least do it once before you post it like you are a professional!
I can learn as much as what not to do as what to do by watching youtube -but thats not a slam. Youtube is a great asset. I use it for cars more than chilton / etc any day.

The heat sucked on my Dodge Dakota and Youtube showed me how to flush the heater core. I also watched a vid on Youtube before replacing the window control switch on my sister's old CRV. Her windows hadn't worked in years, but she didn't see that as a problem - until her AC went out a couple of weeks ago.
