More computer issues

sigh...now Word and Excel won't open. I get a compatability error message (not designed to run on Windows or contains an error). I thought it might be related to the GoPro software I installed so I removed it but no joy.

I'm using windows 10 and searched online but didn't find anything useful.

Any ideas?

TIA

Oh, and the update going out next Tuesday will force Cortana on and disable a lot of privacy options.

In the mean time, OpenOffice may be of some help... haven't checked for Win10 binaries...

Yep, $10 per month for the rest of your life. Of course that will go up over the years.

I tried that but...wait for it...Excel and Word no longer appear in my program list

BTW I also did a clean boot but that didn't help. How could the progs just vanish?

Does anyone use any other spreadsheet aside from Excel? Or something other than Word?

What versions of the Office software are these? Some older ones will not work at all with Windows 10. Did you run the compatibility checker before you upgraded and then read what it said and also did you research on line what works and what does not with Windows 10?

I am guessing that these and possibly other versions of software are not compatible and will be required to be upgraded?

It's ProPlus that I installed last year. It has been working with no issues. It was a one time purchase so the license should not have expired.

I just bought a new Dell Inspiron with Windows 10, set it up last night and installed my 2003 Office Pro from CD without any problems. Maybe some people are still selling copies of that?

Office Pro Plus has several versions and according to my main technical friend, the earliest ones "may not" work in Windows 10. He said the Office package will have to be reinstalled in all cases so it gets the necessary OS configuration info. I looked at what I had on my Windows 10 machine and it is the latest version which I bought as a package deal from the college I teach at.
