I think we have discussed this before.

In a road car, anything beyond 400hp is likely never going to get used.

For me, the most 'fun' is a light car with 200-250hp and a manual.

There is something to be said about learned car control.

Let's say somebody like Milt Minter, probably an expert , drives a 72 T with Solex carbs on a shorter race track against your 930 with you driving. Like Motorsport Ranch. Not real long straights.

He knows the car, though, and he has not an ounce of turbo powaaaahhhh.

You going to beat him? I know you have a motorsports background but a dude that lives it, car control, and is good, I think will beat you.

There are plenty of car and bike racers that are more skilled, and have bigger ballz, than me, and I have never heard one of them ask for less power in their machines, and/or wax poetic about the joys of racing a putt putt car or bike; that sort of talk is typical of guys who's only option is snail power or who can only manage a machine that has barely more thrust than a bicycle! Yer welcome, bro!

I'm just saying an "expert" can probably beat a seasoned enthusiast in a greater car on the right track.

Ive got friends from the autocross world, building some serious HP hill climb cars Twin turbo setups on ls motors. 700hp on mild tunes .
Last season, they totaled it , Im anxious to see how this season plays out .
So much power, they cannot keep the rear hooked . I heard, that he made 2 runs, first one, was accelerating out of the gate, and lost it in a straight line, and went off course. Next run, he made it further up the hill , but ended up cooking a turn, and balled it up. These guys are not pros , but I would say pretty experienced drivers .
I think at some point, they are going to have to limit the power these cars make, someone is going to get hurt .
This years car has more power

Turbo has more power but its advantage is diminished on a track with too many tight corners and short straights.
So Mint might lose if they raced at LeMans.
Bummer is over time a turbo engine is twice the cost feed compared to the less stressed aspirated engines.

You don't need any hp to learn momentum driving.
In the book Twist of the Wrist they mention an Engines off Race by coasting down a hill whoever loses most momentum loses.

Miata is a fine car but its not in my top ten slow cars i want to own or drive.
My current slow car 86 911 is more challenging to drive than a Miata.

A car race X-Box game (circa 2007) had races where you were not allowed to use the brakes. I was perplexed as to why but seems those that make the games knew better.

You know when you've hit the apex perfectly. You know when you braked to early or too late. You know when you turned in too early or too late. It doesn't make any difference how much power you have behind (or in front of) you - you know if you're driving well and making the right decisions. Horsepower can make up for mistakes, but inside your helmet ...you know.

Thinking about it, if you weren't in Texas, I'd stake my honorary nephew in a race with you. 9 ball, 8 ball, banks, one pocket...your choice of game, race to 9 games won, BCA rules, 9' Diamond tournament table. And to think, I don't even know your speed...you could be an APA 6 for all I know.

Pool...a game of skill that equipment plays a minimum role. It's the indian, not the arrow, although the top Indians have very straight arrows in their quiver. Pool pros are a fickle lot....they pretty much play with whoever gives them the best sponsorship.

Fast car? Mere check writing. Not that pro drivers aren't skilled, but like in F-1, where most drivers are skilled, it's pretty much a follow the money game with equipment playing a major role.

So..wow, you have a fast car and like to brag about it while saying those here who make other choices suck.
