Thanks guys,

We appreciate the comments. It’s never easy and the chasm in my chest feels huge. Our pets are part of our family and they accept us for who we are. I have always joked that in a prior life I must have been a vet or marine biologist. They are easier to deal with than people at times.

Onyx was a special kitty, as all of everyone’s are. They bond and connect with our families in way that “non” animal people cannot fathom. In Onyx’s case, I have photos of me lying on the bathroom floor with her laying across my neck like a little black muffler while she became accustomed to indoor life. I will miss her sleeping on my head/pillow and her smashing head butts.

Belly scratches to all of your furry family members.

A couple of months later, she got a big knot under her chin. The vet checked her for feline leukemia and it came back positive. Not long after I had to have her put to sleep. Did the vet say anything about the possibility of her having feline Leukemia?

Hi Marv,

That thought also crossed our minds because her behavior mimicked a cat I had growing up in the early 80’s that contracted the disease. This was at a time that FLV was new to us and its highly contagious rate on other cats in the home. I have never forgotten what “Killer” went through. My dad brought him home one day as a tiny feral little kitten after catching this little guy at a job sight. The dad was a local bobcat and mum a feral siamese.

Onyx’s blood panel returned mostly normal and she was current with all of her shots and always was indoors since a heavy snow storm in 2009.

Thanks again,

We're monitoring her closely, trying to make the distinction of whether her pain is worse than ours.

Sorry to hear about Emma,

Not much we can say to ease the pain your experiencing other than it sounds like you doing everything you can to make her time as comfortable as possible. That is all we can do for our four legged furry family members. Having faced this twice in as many months, it’s not easy.

Make every day count.

So sad to see your cat sick or suffer, a real dark cloud living in the shadow of sickness.
(my mil going on 10 years of Alzheimers seems to have conditioned me.)

My wife and I had a deal for the last 20 years.
Every time I got a car she got a cat.
After we got up to 5 indoor cats I stopped buying cars! lol
4 of the cats have been healthy and maintenance free.

Cosmo the white indoor cat has had 3 big issues.
At 2 years old got an eraser stuck in his intestine.
Surgery was successful to remove the intestine and eraser, Cosmo recovered.

Look no teeth, still has his claws.

at 7 years old he suffered for 2 years with red inflamed gums, he had Stomatitis.
A gum inflamation that lives in the roots of the teeth.
We took him to our Vet and they removed all his teeth.
Unfortunately the Dr left a few roots so the Stomatitis continued.
An xray indicated some roots still remained so went to a cat surgery specialist that dug deeper and got all the roots of the teeth out.
Months later the dental work healed and the Stomatitis disappeared.

At 13 years old, 5 months ago he was diagnosed with slow growing cancer in his intestine.
That's where we are now.
He had a feeding tube for 2 months that we fed him gruel, water and meds.
The tube is out and he seems happy and we pill him once a day with Prednisone.
Anti inflammatory for his intestines, seems to be working for now.
We got one order of Kemo to treat the cancer but I could not give Cosmo Kemo.
I didn't want to see him suffer the negative affects of Kemo.

Today Cosmo and Max the black cat doing well.

I have never had to experience the saddest day of cat ownership, when you have to drive them to the vet to be put down.
Instead we found a nice lady that will come to your house and can put the cat down in the privacy of our own home.
Having our cat at home and not at the Drs office makes a difficult situation just a little more bearable.

Tomtom is a SPCA boy who loves his new life. He was weighing in at 5.5 Kg (that's about 12 lb) at the age of one. Now that he's two he has figured out he doesn't need to get stuck into "all the free food" and his weight is becoming a little more realistic. He's got a real sense of humour in him and is such a picture of health.

She burn gas like its going on a tree...

To make it worse, she doesn't turn it off when she leave.

I was just outside and noticed the tiki pictured above was gone. Stolen just last night. It was way up by my garage away from the road and somewhat obscured by various plant foliage.

Damn. Scumbag humans.....no more perch for Tucker.....

My friend got a new tv for his living room. His kitty was loving the you tube channel “videos for cats”.

You got it. That's exactly what I did right after posting that comment. Then I ordered two more of them so I'll have 3 set up.

Sucks....that was one of my favorites and I was saving it for a special location.

All day long I've had thoughts running through my head about whether I need to fence, add security cameras, more motion-activated lights, maybe some sirens, barbed wire, more cattle dogs, booby traps, machine gun nests, etc. etc.

I'll check my game camera in the morning and see if I have the settings right.
