Our latest adoptee, Bela. He showed up in the neighborhood last fall, and of course we had to feed him. He was around all winter, through the snow and zero degree temps, and we and our neighbor put out boxes lined with towels on our porches to give him some shelter. Turns out he was an indoor cat, brought here by a neighbors son, who didn't get along with the daughter's cats, so they threw him out to be a barn cat. It's bad enough that they had saddled him with the name "Hakim". My wife saw the son & daughter recently, brought up the cat, and their first words were "You want him?" He's been inside since last Sunday, sleeping on every soft thing he can find, and has made no move toward the door to go out. The poor guy had ticks all over him, has roundworm which we're treating for, and is going to our vet's next week.
So far, assimilation with the other two, Max and Julius, is going slowly, but looks positive.
