A pair of Thailand Suphalak. The boy is on the right. The girl on the left is a lighter chocolate color because of a dilute gene.

My youngest one, Shrapnel von Pondfarm, Arrived August 2020, from a farm where he was born in may, under a tarp, next to the tracks of a 23 ton WW1 tank..

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1642510817.jpg

He likes to hang with the hoomin in front of the stove..

he has great facial expressions, he can put on a gangsta face, worried, mischief, he's got expression for everything.

I have a "born under a tarp" kitty too. The neighbors across the street had a pregnant cat, and 3 screaming kids, so she decided to come over to my back yard to have the kittens. There were 4: two gray/white and two black/white. Only one of the gray/white and one of the black/whites remain; I was never able to socialize the gray one, but the black/white one is quite friendly.

It's incredibly complicated to try and figure out when and how or why and how often a mother cat will relocate her kittens too.
They really have a weird chip for that, especially on a farm with other animals around, Shrapnels mother was almost full time preoccupied with that relocation bizniz.

And she was a tiny kitty with 3 kittens to much to feed for her.. 1 dropped off.. and only Shrapnel and Bernard his weaker brother survived.

Shrap came with me, Bernard stayed on the farm, by 8 months Shrapnel was twice Bernard's size.. I think he was the primus, the strongest of the next.. but also the different nutrition in the suburbs vs on the farm probably helped.

Bernard didn't make it, they don't neuter em on the farm and he ran under a car.
Luckily Shrap is very scared of noises and cars, and being neutered, he isn't as driven to roam..(those he still goes on the street at night, GPS tracker ones to figure out his movements)

It turned out that Shrapnell, even at young age was very much involved in picking fights with all the neigbor cats.
He simply just never backed down, and took out cats twice his size for only a couple of bites and abcesses in the process.
He lives up to his name.

this is the tank he was born next to and the hangard it happened :

I'm curious to hear more about the tracker.

svandamme 01-19-2022 12:17 PM

I originally got it when he wasn't responding to my calls in the garden.

well it worked, but it was a bit bigger then Shrap liked.

Turns out he was often just in the nextdoor garden just a 2 meters away... and he was just napping in the sun and couldn't be bothered to wake up and respond.. He's done that from day one when I couldn't find him and he was just a sleep under a cupboard.. lazy, carefree little chit.

And after a few days I could go pick it up in a neighbors yard. I thought it had come undone in a fight..

2nd time it didn't last that long , he figured out that the band was giving way (as it should since you don't want the cat to hang himself on something) because he just wanted it off..
And he scratched his neck raw to get it off, so stopped bothering him with it

But above all , After a while I was just glad to not longer track his ass, because all it did was make me nervous when i saw him near the street, and there's no way I could teach him from not going there.
I've accepted he does occasionally cross it, but he's very scared of noises and cars, so will have to trust him on it.

tracker is called Weenect.. i think it's french based.. came with a subscription , it has a cellphone connection in it.

It worked reasonably ok, but the resolution was sometimes a bit low if he was hiding somewhere. Battery conservation and small size antenna and a metal object over him... sometimes he'de be 10 meters further up then Indicated.

i think she must be very petite, cause grampaw is 6 kilo, and this one is supposed to be 12.5
but he looks a lot bigger then just 2x grampaw.
I bet Shrap would kick his rooskie ass, Shrap is fearless and has wicked moves.

She says no photoshop involved. Must be using a fish eye lens.

I thought my dear deceased buddy Garfield was big at 20 pounds...but 28? Wow! What a beautiful creature.

You know, possibly the best middleweight boxer of all time was Floyd Mayweather. He had wicked moves, never lost a fight. But he was smart enough to stay away from the heavyweights... One solid punch from say a Lennox Lewis could have literally killed him.

It's fortunate for smaller cats that Maine Coons have a very mellow personality.

Racerbvd 01-21-2022 04:58 AM

word. I've had a few Main Coons, very sweet catshttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1642772049.jpg
