Update on Cayman

Since Teener passed, Cayman is the last inside kitty and has been acting strange. He mainly stays in my room, a few different sleeping spots, up high, the kitchen and the laundry room where is litter box is. He hasn’t ventured to any other parts of the on his own, just if he rides on my shoulder or carry him. He avoids walking on the floor, I even moved his food on the pub table since is the only place he will eat. Mind you, before Teener died, he never got on the table or counters in the kitchen, Teener would occasionally get on the counter, but he never did until after she passed. He has definitely been grieving, more than any cat who has owned me, and he didn't when the other cats passed.
Now a very strange thing happened earlier today, he was laying on me while i was laying down (sciatic nerve giving me some major issues right now) then when I got up, he followed me into the kitchen, which is normal for him, and giving me head butts, again normal. Well, I take the trash out, and here is where it gets strange, I come back in, and he is running through the house (opposite end from where I left him) jumps on a book case, then tries to climb up the hanging knick knack case, so I go to catch him, but then he runs into the office, jumps on a cabinet, the goes through the window blinds, and back and forth between the blinds and windows, screaming very loudly, like he was trying to get out. Again, he has never been a loud meower, always just like peeps, never screaming like today. I finally get him out from behind blinds and windows, but he then runs across the cabinet, jumps on a shelf, and he was still screaming, his eyes wide open and full gold, I try and grab him, but then he jumped on taller hutch over the computer desk, running back and forth, still screaming, then he jumped across and on to a book case in the corner. After I came around the desk, to get to the book case, he of course jumped back to the Hutch, so I go back around the desk, and finally catch, and very uncharacteristic of him, he was acting like a wild cat, and jumped out of my arms, ran through the living room, into the back bedroom (again, he hasn't gone in there since Teener passed) and into the back bathroom, into the shower, and when I get in there, he jumps to the shower curtain rod, and I finally caught him. His heart was beating a mile a minute, but instead of trying to get away, he tucked his head into my arms so he couldn't see anything. I take him back to my room and set him down on the bed, but as soon as I did that, he ran back out and through the house. I'm thinking he was back in the back bedroom, so I went to get something out of the Cheyenne and see him in the driveway and the colony kitties are running away. It was chilly here today, and he doesn't like the cold, so when I try to catch him, he was headed towards the door, so I opened it and he went straight in. After that he was pretty much back to þ. I picked him up and sat down on the Human Touch Zero Gravity chair, as now I am really in pain, and he stays on my lap, heart no longer racing, eyes back to normal. The only thing I can think happened, and I know this sounds crazy, but Teener is still here. A few weeks ago, Ms Fluff, one of the feral kitties, decided to come inside, now she will generally come and stand in the doorway, never ventures more than a few feet in the house. This time, she came in, walked right passed me, around the hall and into the office, and she started screaming, then she came out, but went back in and under the desk, where Teener use to like to sit. When I go in, since I wasn't sure where she was or if she was okay since, not only does she not come all the way into the house, but she doesn't scream either. When I came in, she came out from under the desk, still screaming, then walked back to the front door, so I opened it and she went back outside. I walked out to check on her, and she was on the ledge in front of the window of the office, again, some place she generally didn't sit, looking inside. When I went back to my room to lay down, Cayman came back in and has been in my lap pretty much, every since I laid down, and every time I get up, he follows me, to the bathroom or kitchen, but has calmed down . Anyone else ever have something like that happen? I know it sounds crazy, but there has been a few times I thought I saw Teener walking through the living room, and Cayman, won't stay on the floor. One Last thing, Teener's ashes are in the office. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1636264092.jpg

I believe cats definitely grieve...our Garfield lived a year or so after his brother Snowball died..never a "yowler" before. Garfield would often prowl the house, yowls and yelps...calling & looking for his brother, I'm sure. He never seemed really happy...

Damn, I miss them...

We went through almost the same thing here over the last year. When his brother Jasper died Jake, who had been the quiet one, became a howler. Usually first thing in the morning. Poor guy. They had been together for 14 years.

Byron, the pictures you posted of the tabby reminded me of a cat my FIL had 20 years ago.
Sailor came from the shelter, where he had been a fixture for a while. Neutered late, he was broad faced and solid. My FIL got him to keep the mice and rats in check in the barn, a job at which he proved his mastery. He also proved himself a master of the old guy's heart. He soon was following his person into the house and would accept treats from his hand. Sailor never forgot his duties but was truly a gentleman around people. He liked everyone but my FIL was his favorite. If the garden on the hill was being tended, Sailor was there for company. He would walk across the field and when it was time to come home, would jump up onto the tank of the four wheeler for a ride back.
He passed a few months after my FIL and I suspect they are still keeping each other company.

Best
Les
