They are trying to build a model of your personal pattern of behavior. Once they get enough of data on you they will be able to tailor the content of the information you receive to manipulate your perceptions and behavior. You won't even know it is being done.

They have some problems though as their thinking is very crude. They first have to build a big enough data base (over lots of time) and then sift through the information to see universal patterns develop and then start applying those to the individual. In the application to the individual a lot of nuance is needed. Shadings of gray as it were.

Then we come to the interpretation and perceptions of the idiots who sit behind desks that collect the information have. Having the data is one thing but using it is quite another.

So it comes down to art more than science as numbers lose something in the translation that rings hollow. Human beings first and foremost are emotional creatures where so many variables come into play.

Guess what if I can explain the mechanism to you, I know how it works and can apply those principles, dontcha think?

i agree with OP here. FB and Tesla are on their own agendas. I do not have FB, I despise it. Tesla can go back in time in 2.5 seconds, will never get my money. And do not call me narrow minded, but they are upto somethin a lot larger than asshat isis terrorists. Watch and you shall see.

I personally like FB for the reasons others have stated - I have family and friends in other countries and it makes communication with groups really easy. I've not got much to hide, so I'm OK with it - my user name on most sites is my real name.

I am talking about skewing the news you receive. Which will be used to manipulate your attitudes and the decisions you make.

As in who you vote for.
