Two of humanities biggest enemies had a bad day...
Billionaires at war: 'Disappointed' Mark Zuckerberg hits out at SpaceX after Facebook's $200m satellite explodes but Elon Musk says the cause is 'unknown' as his fortune drops $390m in one day cause of accident | Daily Mail Online
facebook, tesla....these are not things that have improved the world today. they take gov't money and give terrorists a forum for spreading their hate. perhaps the best part is the satellite was to provide facebook access to the middle east. karma is a *****. |
Allahu akbar!!!!

Sheeesh. Angry old man much?
I think facebook is great. For our family, it's become a great place to share photos and keep in contact with those far away. |
If you had any idea the nefarious things they are doing with the information they collect about you, you'd probably have a different opinion. To be honest, non of us know for sure. Facebook won't tell us. We do know that they use facial recognition to build shadow profiles of people who don't even sign up. Appear in the background of a picture that someone you don't know posted on Facebook? Facebook uses the metadata in the photo to figure out where you were and at what time, and adds that to its vast collection of data on you. Play a game on Facebook? They use that data to develop a psychological profile of you. Yes, they do all of this to better target adds at you--adds that you see even if you're not logged on to Facebook. But this information is ripe for abuse as well and the fact is they don't tell us what they really do with it. Read their privacy notice. It's a joke. It essentially says they can do whatever they want with the data they collect.

my goodness if some sort of google satellite had been on that thing we'd have had to make today a global holiday!

I love Faebook, but I am nonetheless aware that it is, to use one expression, "the perfect neoliberal training ground" - you give them content for free, and they then sell it to others for profit.
Zuckerberg seems unaware that rocket launches have a high s**t-happens factor. |
You guys make it sound like using Facebook isn't optional.
|
FB didn't force me to sign up for an account and post photos and stories about myself. And they didn't hold a gun to the government's head and take taxpayer money. They do what any other company would do if it could.
|
To call those two humanities biggest enemies is a bit of exaggeration. I would have to put the leaders of North Korea, Iran, and ISIS and even Russia a bit higher of the bad guy list.

Add that to the NSA, and you have to realize that everything you do is tracked and cataloged, and may be used against you at some future date (maybe decades in the future) at their leisure. |
We're domed.

Don't want your info on the internet? Sign off! For that matter, if you don't think the banks and insurance companies who have all you sensitive data are you best buddies... you are in for a big surprise. |
Was the rocket trying to drive itself?
