We have them in ponds in south Ga. they can't breed...they get pretty big and do their job of keeping the pond slime and grass down. Don't go too heavy or they will strip the pond of everything and fish populations will suffer.

As said, get the genetically altered ones that can't breed.

Also, be sure you have the right kind of stuff for them to take care of - they won't indiscriminately eat anything green. And don't introduce it if you don't have it!

They seemed to work for Lincoln City, OR to get rid of the weed that was clogging up "D" Lake...sterile grass carp. Evidently the lake was slowly turning into swamp land...couldn't have that because "D lake", is a tourist attraction, being the headwaters of the world's shortest river.

Markus, there is a thread titled "pond weeds" from a few years ago that you and I posted on with a pic of one of them.

I'm slowly losing the battle since my last big azz carp died...a few had been stocked years ago. I'm gonna put 4-6 back in...should have already....

I don't think it would matter the time if year...if I can locate some l'll do it asap and maybe give them a head start for next year.

Ps: caught a BAB yesterday . Big Azz Bass...maybe 6-7 lbs...
