It is vary common for your nostrils to be colonized with MRSA.

Extremely common here is Southern California. I've got them all over my yard. Nothing I can do about it.

I haven't tried any spider specific poisons on black widows. I do know the usual bug sprays don't appear to affect them. Every 2 weeks or so I head outside around 10 pm with a 5 gallon paint stick and flashlight to wage war. They are in their web by then making easy targets for spider paste. Key is to first identify their hideout and start from that direction moving toward the spider. They are quick movers when under threat so taking away their escape route is step 1. For those who get into safety nook a quick shot of brake cleaner usually flushes them out - won't kill them but makes them move.

Get you some Geckos. Had them all over the place when I lived in Texas, they kept the bugs in check.

Demon is a permethrin product that will kill spiders

We had a lot of spiders for a while. One season on thick mud daubers and family of siknks move in. We see very few spiders now. The mud daubers make a mess on the house with the nest but each one is stuffed with spiders used as food for the larvae. The skink have a electric neon blue tail when they are young.

This thread needs a trigger warning....

While it's looking less likely that a spider was to blame, I'm still curious.
The webs around the regular trash can and recycle can that are kept on the side of the house had older webs that were definitely from a widow. I know them webs.

But the trash can for green stuff (lawn clippings etc) is kept in the back yard behind the garage. That handle has a completely different type of web covering the opening.

I doan have a pic handy but I found some similar looking webs, called "sheet" webs.
Look familiar? Prolly a regular old yard spider.

Sammy, it took only 2 days to get that bad and eventually covered half of the top of my hand. it took several weeks to heal. I do know a few people that have lost fingers and one even lost a foot. not something to play around with. this is what it looked like the second day after i noticed it. started in just about the same place as yours but different finger

OK this is kinda cool (sick):

See that green thing sticking out just below center that looks kinda like a booger? I know I know, stick with me here it get's better.

I was looking at it and grabbed it with a pair of tweezers, and pulled it out. it was about 3/8" long not counting what was already sticking out, round, and 3/32" in diameter and it left a perfectly round hole of the same dimensions.

Yep, geckos are good, but Demon is better (assuming you're OK with the wanton destruction of any and every bug in the vicinity.

Demon WP (wettable powder) is available on Amazon. Buy a good sprayer from HD or Lowes (full brass wand, not plastic) and go to town. Kills bugs dead and fast, and not an issue to spray in your yard if you have pets. You can even spray it in your house, if so inclined.

One of the three common types found in my shop. And from the looks of this one, there are about to be a lot more of 'em.
